Stateside Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Back in the early months of Wigan someone played an instrumental version of "You want it you got it" and I seem to remember it being credited to The New York Strings (probably a cover up). I don't think it was just the backing to the Detroit Emeralds, it was laden with strings etc. Perhaps it was a Simon Sousanne made up jobby. I've never seen hide nor hair of it on lists and often wonder if I just imagined it!! Can anyone help

Talking of tapes - I used to dangle my mike over the balcony at Wigan (anything to please the ladies) and record all those sounds on soundhog tapes, utter crap tapes with poor quality but better than nothing. Those early tunes during the warm up, as people came in, often became biggies once they had caught on. Took me years to find out what some of them were. From Nov 73 I had on tape ( although I didn't know it at the time) Teen Turbans - We need to be loved Baby Washington - I've got it bad Joe Matthews - Ain't nothing you can do
