The original has a heavy moulded over label and the boot has a bevelled edge, the matrix number on the run out should be 101tm-1931, I copied the picture in my file then zoomed in, looks ok but can't see matrix number , still better to be sure

seen both boot and orig and i think only way to tell is by the blindingly shiny 'new' vinyl and bevelled edge of the boot. best to buy a demo to be on the safe side

Lots have places have been visited a few times but rarities still turn up later. I was in New york Feb and in a shop reccommended to me. His 45 racks were empty saying he just got rid of 8000 records. He had another room full but would not let me in even when flashing $600 at him- He said he hadnt decided what to do with them yet!

2 months later a guy from france walks into the same shop and gets a silouhettes-not me baby for $1

So it doesnt surprise me if its Philadelphia

The one on Ebay strikes me as a definite original for two reasons:

1. There isn't a noticeable bevelled edge.

2. Most importantly, on the bootleg, the typeface for the title "When I'm With My Baby" is different to the one for "Count The Days". It is a more bolder, modern typeface. Looking at the pics on Ebay here, the typefaces for both titles appear to be the same; nothing like the boot.

So much so that they spend $200 getting a boxful pressed up and even get a bell sound stamp put in in the process because we have the technology today to do so. ! The only way to know if its gen or not is to test the age of the plastic!

It is severely worrying and if you read one of my previous comments on Frederick hymes you really have to wonder if it is worth spending anything over $100.00 for a record

here`s a scan of an Orig that sold on Ebay last year or so,

the writing on the Orig is a lot crisper than the boot,but i must say

this for this one the shield looks in the same place as the Orig,the boots

i`ve seen have all the shield showing with none missing,but hey don`t take my word for it,

the type face is def slight difference side by side, slight line smudge (consistant though) on all outside lines.

surely today's pressing techniques cant recreate these stamps because of the very nature of todays technology rendering the way they stand on the finished vinyl, the s has a heavy curl to the top, u and d all have slighty heavier curls to the bottom

also the attemps at recreation are very, very different, the ones ive seen anyway

not as bad as mel brits ztsc but to the even slightly informed chaulk and cheese

im not bidding, but depending on outcomes there might be another advertised sooner than you might think!
