Guest Trevski Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 On Pete's CD of the old KTF archive there is a track by Chantelle & the Aqualads. Can't find any info on it. Is it a C/U title or real? Sounds a bit 'beach' so it could be the Aqualads but I hope someone out there can give me some info. I have put the track up, incase someone recognises it

Must be quite scarce, I suppose, but any thoughts on price? link I'm not sure on price to be honest cant remember the last time I saw one for sale............but I would guess that its in the £250 region, any one confirm this ball park as I hate giving duff info & this is just an educated guess, should be more really considering how good this is & the fact that if reactivated would probably do very well on the dancefloor etc...........still we need exciting inovative oldies DJ's for that dont we Hope this helps. Must be quite scarce, I suppose, but any thoughts on price? link Just found it mate: Chantelle & the Aqualads - I'll Never Know/Dont Look - Aqua Its out of an area called Kannapolis in NC & was cut in 1968. Altho' I have no absolute proof without doing some digging I would be almost certain that this is 'The' Aqualads they have another disc on this label aswell as the better known disc on Gold Bee is it ??? memory fails me, but same area ish & yes, very beach, but IMO the better end of the beach stuff is awesome & there have been many examples over the years of this kinda sound on the scene & there is still a lot out there to be found too a great semi tapped source of sounds methinks. Hope this helps mate, you would probably get more info or even a copy out of Mr LS record dealer to the stars & a bloody nice bloke, if you need a number PM me. best Russ
Jumpinjoan Posted September 11, 2005 Posted September 11, 2005 Kitch has been playing this for 15 years i'd say ...... top record!

Credits on both the Aqua records are to R.Edwards

Hill868 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Actually THE CHANTELLS with the AQUA LADS ' I'LL NEVER KNOW ' on AQUA 8-8755, just got one arrived from US today, cost me $150, well worth it, awesome sound, played covered by Carl Fortnum, Butch, etc in the early 90's. Label is from Kannapolis, N. Carolina i believe, and must be the same Aqua lads as on the Gold Bee release, as both credita R. Edwards (tho' Gold Bee 45 has N.Y. address). Quite a hard one I think, can only find 3 that have appeared on Popsike.
Windlesoul Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 (edited) Read all about it! I interviewed three of The Aqualads for my book coming out in a couple of months (plug, plug). Have the full story including the Chantells. Chantells were part of the Aqualads stage revue. One of them, Vicki Skinner, still sings today. Totally different Chantells to Indian Giver etc (they were with one L anyway). I reckon 250 a fair price IMO, at least that's how much I paid for one from Mr Dyson. Nice piece, always refreshing to hear a female beach record, they were few and far between. Anybody know that Aqualad 5 thing? The Aqua and Gold Bee Aqua Lads are one and the same.
