Guest taylormadesoul Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 (edited) i really dont feel 70s are "modern" anymore... i class modern soul as whats actually being played in the "modern rooms" styles change so quick today...soulfull house etc....R n B... so progessive......... very rare now do you hear 70s- 80s being played out..all new releases usually and if it is a 70s - 80s sound then its usually a re-mix AND USUALLY CDs......................................... THERES ANOTHER TOPIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited September 10, 2005 by taylormadesoul
Pete S Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 It's called modern because it sounds modern compared to 60's!
Simsy Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 (edited) following on from my previous topic..... why do we still class the 70s as "MODERN" link And that warranted a new thread? Could have asked that question on the other one mate to be honest, Was going good. Think things like Vanguards, Nolan Porter etc ensure that there is a flavour of something different without losing the northern-ness. Question man in the street - what do you call mid to late seventies American black music? Anwer; disco! Edited September 10, 2005 by Ian Sims

Epic Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Think all the "die hard" northern fans should carbon date DJs records to make sure the record wasn't manufactured after December 31st 1969. Heaven forbid that they would actually like anything made after that date. What do people think records like "Grooving At The GoGo", "Out On The Floor" & "At The DISCOtheque" referred to !!!!!!!!!! All the clues are there .
