Pete S Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 HEAR ME PLAYING CLASSIC NORTHERN SOUL, SKA, ROCKSTEADY AND REGGAE 1960-1972 BROADCASTING ALL DAY AT https://pirateradionetwork.com/ (GO TO 'MUSIC' THEN 'ALTERNATIVE' AND CLICK ON 'SKA & SOUL A GO GO') Todays broadcast features Jamaican versions of classic and obscure American soul numbers, 1963 to 1973 ... with a big concentration of Rocksteady classics. Many of these versions are easily as good as the originals! There's also a good selection of Jamiacan artist Northern Soul 45's. This show should run for around 4 hours. N.B. There may be a break in the middle of the show if I am able to pick up the Man City v Man Utd match on Coolstreaming at 3pm! Tonight at 7PM, it's back to the regular format of rare Northern Soul and top Ska, reggae & Rocksteady sounds. I am hoping to broadcast all night tonight. There were 176 listeners yesterday...THANK YOU! A few people asked about introducing the records...haven't sussed out how to get a mic working on there yet but will have a go on Sunday. Cheers Pete
soulsalmon Posted September 10, 2005 Posted September 10, 2005 Nice show Pete, youshould borrow bicknells crutch & parrot if you want to be a proper pirate D J.I'm sure you could find someone on here who would like to take your eye out.
Pete S Posted September 10, 2005 Author Posted September 10, 2005 Yeah it's not quite what I wanted to play tonight but I didn't get time to do a 'rare' playlist, I played stacks of rare stuff yesterday so - AS REQUESTED, NOTE - I'm playing a lot of oldies tonight, but alternating them with the ska and rocksteady, still sticking to the Jamaican versions of soul and r&b numbers in the main, when that lot has played, ending around 11pm I think. I'm going to repeat all the rare stuff from yesterday and leave it running all night, so if anyone gets in late and wants to hear sommat decent...
