Jason S Posted September 13, 2005 Posted September 13, 2005 christian well talked to the label owner last week and he told me '78 maybe i heard wrong but thought that what i heard long distance still my copy is in the post and i cant wait wasnt easy gettign it though link Who was that, Raymond Simmons? I tried to get him to give us the story on the group and the record a few years back but he recalled absolutely nothing at the time...maybe he had a sudden moment of clarity. I did speak to Harold Andrews around the same time who told us he sold the rights to Simmons for $100 back in the 80's and that the record never went further than the local area. Check out Ray's percussion workout on the web...fascinating stuff. There are photos of him on the web including guys who could have been the Fab Playmates...when I asked him if there were any pics of the group he said not. Still got my Select Records T-shirt somewhere

Jason S Posted January 13, 2006 Posted January 13, 2006 This Fabulous Playmates record can be ordered now on CD so that it can be heard on the street as well as in the clubs. Order from The Simmons Music Company. With all due respect Mr Simmons, $25 seems a bit expensive for a two track CD. The advert says 'Collector's album' but only two tracks are listed. Is this a full album you're selling or a two track CD?

Ady Potts Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 I had a couple of these in my barn. Then a few years ago I decided to have a bit of a clear out. So I took a couple of crates up to Sheridans to one of Andys niters, then tipped the crates up side down on the pool table & announced "Five quid each!!". It resembled a Rugby scrum. Anyway, I stood there talking to soul sam & a guy came up with a handfull, & in there was the Fab Playmates. Sam said he wanted it, but the guy handed me his money. I found another & sam was kind enough to give me about £20 in a trade for it. Now reading this thread looks like I did another wrongun
Guest sigher the gutter snype Posted July 3, 2006 Posted July 3, 2006 YOU CAN STILL SELL ANOTHER SPINNERS "ILL BE AROUND" ON THE BAY FOR £25
