The club down Lothian Road, cant remember what it was called in the 60’s I only remember it as Harvey’s / Pipers. Anyway when I was a kid my sister and me were staying over night at my grans in Morrison Street, we were woken by a lot of screaming and shouting from the living room. We went through to find out what was going on and seen my uncle had been stabbed. I was told that he was a bouncer at the above-mentioned club and some guys that he had kicked out the club jumped him on his way home. I found out years later from my mother the truth about that night. My uncle and aunt had an argument and she stabbed him. Life’s a bitch when you marry one.

It closed and changed its name to Annabelle's and that’s where I met my wife. You know Lenny Before it was a disco it was a cattle market. Don’t remember Pipers? What a sheltered life. What about… commercial discos like, Valentino’s, Tiffanies, Buster Browns, Flanigans? Soul related do’s like Spanky’s (that place was scary), Leith town hall alldayers (or was there only one? This remembering malarkey is harder than I thought). Come on then lets have some stories. Lieth town hall alldayer, attempting to do splits during Country Girl, pulling a muscle at the top of my leg. Went to toilets to rub in some Raljex, back out dancing, everything ok then the burning. Yep put the Raljex to close the old crown jewels, back to the bogs to wash of. Can you imagine the looks I was getting? P.S. Part of Americana became Fat sams which took it's internall decoration from the mighty CLOUDS. Edited September 2, 2005 by Gogse
