This Eddie Daye track is a cracking uptempo number, got spins at Allanton niters from Mark Linton if memory serves me. Betty Wilson another excellent tune on this label.

unknown to who? know it doesn't get played that much now but would have thought most collectors would know this and anyone who's been about on the scene for any lenght of time would know it too.

I've got a good (bloody good IMO) unreleased acetate by the Four Bars that will be getting played at You Know You Got Soul on Sunday. Very uptempo, very punchy, very danceable, very northern soul. Almost certainly a one off. whistling.gif

from dayco cd

The Rhythm and Blues of Dayco releases were from 1967 to 1985.

There were a total of 7 singles that were released on the label. Three of

the singles were by Eddie Daye and the 4 Bars, Dayco 4564 "Lean On

Me" b/w "Why I've Got To Know, Dayco 104 "We Are Together"

b/w "Speak Now" and Dayco 2500 "Stay On My J.O.B. b/w "Poor

Little Me". Two of the singles were by Betty Wilson, with the 4 Bars

backing her up on one of them, Dayco 2109 "Don't Give Up" b/w

"Anything To Please My Man" and Dayco 1631 "I'm Yours" b/w "All

Over Again". One single was by Eddie and Denise, Dayco 4209A "If

You Know What You Want (Go For It)" and 4209B "Which One" was by

Eddie Daye with the TNT Tribble Band. The final Dayco release was by

the TNT Tribble Band, Dayco 3010 "I'm Just Talking To Myself" vocal

and instrumental. Furthermore, two tracks, one by Betty Wilson and the

4 Bars ("Keep On Holding My Baby's Hand") and the other by Eddie

Daye and the 4 Bars ("I Can Fix It") were previously unreleased.

I don't want to give too much away as I am trying to track down people assotiated with the record, but it was found with a letter from the producer which included "THIS IS JUST A DEMO. FOR THE MASTER, I WOULD WANT A DIFFERENT ARRANGEMENT WITH HORNS..." etc.

I aquired it from a retired soul collector in the UK, so it is possible that it has been played at some point on the soul scene, but how many times, how many moons ago and where I wouldn't like to guess. shades.gif

I guess alot of records kind of sound motownish, if that's stating the obvious?

I know what you mean though. Bloody catchy record, sticks in your head straight away. shades.gif

Thanks for the input on Lean On Me and to Chalky for posting up the sound file, personally it's a record I have always liked and just wanted a bit of info on.

Liked the snippet of Push Girl from the Four Bars, the backing kind of reminds me of The Twilights Your The One on Aqua Records at first listen.

Cheers John.
