Guest Kolla Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Fans of Darrell Banks have raised $1,500 for a bench to stand at his grave, which previously was marked by a small disc wedged into a lawn at Detroit Memorial Park Cemetery. On July 17, David Meikle and Lowell Boileau plan to gather in this Detroit suburb with Banks fans to dedicate the Darrell Banks Memorial Bench. Meikle and Boileau are creators of the great web site SoulfulDetroit.com. The SD website has a great bio on Banks here.

Guest Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 For anyone interested, the grave bench for Darrell Banks was dedicated today at a short memorial service today. Frances Nero, Spyder Turner, Dennis Coffey were among some the Detroit Alumni that attended.
soul45s Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Last year at the Australian Northern Soul Weekender in Perth there was a guy doing a collection/donation bucket to assist in the funding toward this unmarked grave, so im pleased that Darrell will finally have a fitting headstone for his grave. RIP and thankyou for the tunes and the wonderful melodies and memories regards Paul
