out of interest -

the ebay "over 100 list thing on front page"

worthwhile/interesting thing ?

uses a bit of space and slows front page down a bit

worth it?

Not sure, If you find something on ebay, obviously the less people that spot it the better, keeping the price down, and increasing your chances of winning it.The front page list may alert another dozen or so potential bidders that otherwise would not have found it! However, you might see something on the front page that you missed! Bit of a mixed blessing I suppose.

To be honest, I have my own searches set up on eBay so never use the 100 list on the front page. If it's slowing the site down I'd take it off and just put a link to eBay - it's a nice feature, but i'd rather have the page loading in quicker when I'm at home *.

* Although my work PC loads in the front page quickly - at home (Mac +56K modem) it can take a while and the page re-loads itself a couple of times before allowing me to go anywhere.

Cheers all for passing on thoughts,

idea of it being a sort of catch your eye in passing thing,

usually use it as a"mmmm wonder whats that going for" meself

always a hard call balancing the content with speed on the front page,

way look at it is news/articles, forum posts , event guide are essential parts, rest of stuff flexiable and up for changes,

anyway as said ta for comments, as always feel free to add

if interested, current stuff going on is

next week or so should hopefully resort in the final sort out on content side, spare time allowing, engine seems to work ok now, just stuff like comments etc to tie in
