Guest Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 Hi everyone I just joined your site and would like to tell you a little bit about me first. My name is Nik, and I'm 40 years old, and been a Northern Soul fan for 28 years, ever since I went to Alexandra Youth Club, Edgerly, Stockport, at the age of 12. The very first Northern Soul Record I ever heard was: - Peggy March - "If You Loved Me" Since then I've been hooked! In my youth I was a member of Wigan Casino, Cleethorps, Rotherham, Keel, and one or two other soul night places. Ok, that's enough about me; first of all I'd like to ask if anyone could value 2 records for me in today's market? The records are: - Johnny Appalachian - "Up In Smoke" - Goldie 1104 DJ copy. Mint Condition. and Gino Washington - "Like My Baby" (Vocal) - Atac DJ copy. Mint Minus Condition. Both can be heard here: - www.soulclub.org Next, I've been chasing some records and would like to ask if anyone has copies of the following and would like to sell them, please contact me: - nik770@hotmail.com Eddie Daye and the 4 Bars, "Guess Who Loves You" - Shrine 112 Jon and the Weirdest, - "Can't Get Over These Memories" - Tie 101 King Tutt, - "You've Got Me Hung Up" - Fun City 461 Crow, - "You're Autumn Of Tomorrow" - Inner Ear 429 ZZ and Company, - "Gettin' Ready For The Getdown" - Columbus 51679 I pay top prices for records in Mint, or Mint Minus Condition. And finally I have some records for sale, so make me an offer for one, or all of them? Cheryl Berdell "Giving it all to you" M Marie Queenie Lyons "See and don't see" M Ron Douglas "Love is here" WRP Falcons "(I'm a fool) I must love you" VG, + WL Barbara Mason "Oh, how it hurts" VG, + WL Philip Mitchell "Free for all" Bootleg Barbara Stephens "I don't worry" VG Bobby Darin "Melodie" VG Eddie Bo "Hook and sling" VG The Wanderers "You can't run away from me" VG Yvonne Caroll "Stuck on you" VG + WL Shin-Dig Smith "Through fooling around" M. minus Richard Wylie "Money" VG + WL Wombat "I'm gettin' on life" Bootleg Idle Few "People that's why" Bootleg Gene McDaniels "A hundred pounds of clay" VG Marv Johnson "Come to me" VG Executives "My aim is to please you" VG Jackie Wilson "Try it again" VG Jackie Wilson "Talk that talk" VG Jackie Wilson "Doggin' Around" VG All records are originals unless otherwise stated. Records are graded from John Manship's record grading's. Thanks for taking the time to read this :o)
davidwapples Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 Gino Washington – “Like My Baby” (Vocal) – Atac DJ copy. Mint Minus Condition this is listed at 150 in latest manship guide and 100 in the first guide to give you some idea
Guest Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 Thanks for your help, but Manship doesn't list a DJ copy. Also manship's guide isn't always correct, as I've seen records he list's at £15, go for £250?
Guest Posted June 19, 2004 Posted June 19, 2004 I think a record is worth whatever someone wants to pay for it.

Guest Posted June 21, 2004 Posted June 21, 2004 Thanks for your comments everyone! :o) I was just thinking, It's a shame we still don't have youth clubs like Alexandra! It would keep the kids off the street a few nights a week, and introduce them to "our" kinda music, like it did with us lot. That's why there are very few youngsters in today's scene.
Guest DeeJay Posted June 28, 2004 Posted June 28, 2004 i'm interested in the Cheryl Berdell my last copy got nicked in Leeds, I know it's common but not over here in the States How much do you want for it DJ
MarkWhiteley Posted July 1, 2004 Posted July 1, 2004 ZZ and Company, - "Gettin' Ready For The Getdown" - Columbus 51679 One just gone on Manship's auction. Price is very low at £91 (watch this go sky high!! ;-] ), just thought I'd let you know...
Guest Johnny One Trout Posted July 2, 2004 Posted July 2, 2004 That is actually quite cheap compared to niter prices!!!! J
