Soulfreak Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Can any one help identify this cool 70's southern floater, was thinking maybe someone like Dorothy Moore, but hopefully someone will know. Thanks Dave A beauty Dave, can't place the singer, but doesn't it sound like a Paul Kelly style song/production?? Martin.
Dave Thorley Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 A beauty Dave, can't place the singer, but doesn't it sound like a Paul Kelly style song/production?? Martin. Theres a thought. Does also remind me of some Malaco recordings from back in the day. The disc came from Tennesse, which wouldn't make it to much of a stretch to be from that studio. I know Denise LaSalle lives there, but don't think it's her.
Dave Thorley Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) Listening again, could be a Memphis recording also, I would say it comes from that triangle that is Muscle Shoals, Jackson, Ms and Memphis. Just my luck someone is now gonna say it's a west coast recording Edited January 13, 2011 by Dave Thorley
Alan T Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Is it female, sounds the same as Carl Carlton song to me. Maybe a different mix.
Alan T Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 A beauty Dave, can't place the singer, but doesn't it sound like a Paul Kelly style song/production?? Martin. It was written by P Kelly (Paul ?)
Dave Thorley Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) It was written by P Kelly (Paul ?) Bugger me, I need my ears cleaning; it is. So mystery solved it's Carl Carlton. Funny how the mind plays tricks on you, I was sold it by a guy as a unknown female track, so when it arrived I listen to it exspecting a female singer, and heard one. Also did all my web searches based upon that belief. Just found me a nice demo sitting on the shelf, feel even more of a fool now. Thanks Alan Dave Edited January 13, 2011 by Dave Thorley
Alan T Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Dave, if i didn't already know it i would of thought it was female too. I know it got a 45 release but i know it from the "Everlasting Love" album.
