Hiya Tony, hope all is well with you. When was the last time you saw Ivor? Do you remember the Alldayers he put on around 84/85 and the Keithleigh allnighter? And would I be right in saying he put the Allnighter on at the Thompson Street centre in Burnley from round about the same time?

Havent seen him for about 10yrs, but spent many hours in his house off Otley rd, like many other dealers back in the 70s, he was selling stuff for about a fiver which are massive tunes nowadays, a real nice guy with more enthusiasm than anyone else ive ever known,.. that old volvo he had took some right stick, exhuast used to be scraping on the road , with the weight of all the Record boxes in the back.

The Thompson Centre was just after the Bankhall days. (at least I think it was lol)

I was trying to remember where I was living when the T.C. was on, and I can't remember.

I remember Ivor very well, he promoted a lot of events including some great allnighters at Brighouse Civic Hall, all dayers and nighters at the YMCA in Halifax.

He also did some promoting with Pat Allen. A real nice guy with some great records for sale thumbsup.gif

Hey Jimmyw,

I read with a smile your little ditto on Ivor, and I warmed inside. Yeah I knew my good old mate \\\ivor we were very good friends and still are I hope, he was the only person I genuinely enjoyed working with him yes me and Ivor staged the Thompson centre allnighters and they were very good too. he always gave me a stupendous spot at the halifax allnighter event as me and Ivor got on exceptionally well. and his wife and kids were great company when I used to visit their home.

That man helped many a struggling young collector get their collections bettered by selling them some great cheap sounds that nowadays are off the scale, hope he reads this and gets in touch I always admired that lad as he always had a fantastic smile a jolly laugh and a heart of gold/soul and he knew his stuff too.well done Mr Allen (no relation by the way) hope to hear from anyone that remembers me and Ivor back in the eighties and nineties do get in touch. Hi Pat, you might remember me, Jimmy from Halifax, I have a sister called Marie. We used to travel to Venues in the back of a van owned by Teddy from Burnley, along with Terry and Gary Taylor along with several others. Enjoyed your do's as well as many others including Morcambe Peir, Parr hall Warrington. Great days indeed.

Hope you are well. Jimmy :)

Hey Paul,

Really great to hear from you lad, yeah excellent after all these years. Yeah and good ol' Ivor he was a magician rreally with his records he was always trying to help young and up and coming deejays, myself and him usedd to have good discussions on how we could help and how we thought the club scene should be run in our own particular locality and I think thats why we had a real very successful working relationship.

Keighley and Bradford were great for me as he always gave me a mind blowing spot and being fortunate to have the meagre collection that I had I was usually able to cope with the major events and if you think back now somewhere like Keighley and Bradford would be major major alnighters these days as they were always phenomenally well attended events but nowadays the FAT CATs have their greasy paws over the scene and its all big bucks, however there are a few of us left that can and will achieve fantastic events in the near future and put the cat among the flying rats (pidgeons) as you know them. Ivor remains a great friend even though havent seen him for many years but that doesn't matter as we are real friends and as you know these are hard to find and even harder to keep so when you do find them they're for life IVOR ALLEN A Real Gentleman andd STAR.

anybody in touch with him give him my very best regards and tell him to mail me cheers Paul good to hear from you keep in close touch bud Pat (Burnley)

Hello Paul,

I was delighted that you've seen spyke and he remembered me yes we had some unbelievable events down here.nowadays the greasy fat cats have their hands on everything so I try to steer clear of their events.I was talking to Frankie the Fiddle case and laptop Elson of Blues and Soul Fame a couple of weeeks ago and I mention superb venue you lads were involved with The Famous Dolphin Centre.Had some great times there and you lads up there are and always will be salt of the Earth and of course the local gigs you had up there Newton Aycliffe etc wonderful and classic venues see we knew what the scene wanted. as far as the local scene here I'm ever mindful of venues and keep looking endlessly. Its been a privilige to know you and the boys there and I'll always consider you very special friends of mine and \steve Ray Franks living local to me these days so I seee him fairly regularly hes another great friend. I hope you will keep in touch regularly and perhaps you may want to get your fingers in the local pot here should I find a useful venue my very best regards to you all thefre take care Pat (Burnley)
