Pete S Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 (edited) Just posting in here before it gets moved to non-vinyl as it is certainly Northern Soul related. I'm sure you've all seen the prints of these paintings by Neil C Thompson for sale on Ebay and at venues, well these are the actual original oil paintings from which the prints were taken. They were given to me by someone to sell for them so I thought I'd test the water to see if there was any interest, or if anyone has any advice how to sell something like this. Whether you think they are any good or not is beside the point, they must have sold thousands of prints so someone must like them. The sizes range from around 14 x 10 for the Ritz one to 24" x 18" for the last Casino one. Interesting stuff anyway. Absolutely no idea what to ask for them but they are all one-offs and came from the artist. 14" x 10" 16" x 12" 24" x 18" 30" x 20" 30" x 25" Edited January 4, 2011 by Pete S
Guest Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 There are a couple of others plus prints on ebay (seller is ''oilsome'') which might give a price benchmark - although I am nto sure he has sold any of the originals yet.

Pete S Posted January 4, 2011 Author Posted January 4, 2011 Blimey, they're asking £700 for one of the large ones
Mark Bicknell Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 Pete, any original artwork does tend to have a market value, often down to the artist name, reputation, body of work etc. reckon you will find the market for these with no problem and will make far more than the prints I'm sure, good luck. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Guest Posted January 4, 2011 Posted January 4, 2011 If you come up with any prices (and I have no idea either) plus details of the paintings (sizes) plus a chance to have a butchers...... then I'd be interested. No rush... even better if any kind of trade could be considered.

No rush... even better if any kind of trade could be considered. My mate said you ought to go by the size and the amoun of man hours put into it, like say the small one may have taken say 4 hours, at £20 an hour, whereas a large one may have taken up to and over 20 hours. I see the artist selling stuff on ebay, some of his originals are relatively cheap, some very expensive, one never made public before painting he has at £200 though it's not as good as the ones in the original set but hey it's a million times better than I could have done. You could come and see them any time you like. I did offer them back to the original artist but again, couldn't really come up with a price, though I said it'd have to be more than £400 for the lot as I've already been offered that. I'll edit the original post and add the sizes to each painting ok.
