Guest cenco Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 jimmy raye on moonshot took off in 2010 seemed alot were looking for copies...
Corbett80 Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Outside of that hardly any of them have become big records have they? A lot still waiting to fulfill potential? A lot of really good collectors 45s in that list though!
Guest Matt Male Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Outside of that hardly any of them have become big records have they? A lot still waiting to fulfill potential? A lot of really good collectors 45s in that list though! I agree, plenty on there played at small upfront soul nights and second rooms in the last twelve months and before that. Not many (any?) on the list played by big name DJs in big rooms, or become massively popular. Makes you wonder where the heart of the scene lies? I expect it will be the same with most of the 2011 list.
Liljimmycrank Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 Heard rey villar and betty wright a lot last year
TOAD Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 # 8 sam dees ,blew my head off when i heard this at prestatyn awesome !
Dean Posted January 8, 2011 Posted January 8, 2011 jimmy raye on moonshot took off in 2010 seemed alot were looking for copies... . . . .and is in agin this year at number 57 on the 2011 list. Did hear ir a few times in 2010, although some of that may be due to me hanging around with Kev Holmes who originally put me onto this and played it out a few places. Personally I hope it keeps on going
Guest Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 I thought the unreleased Sam Dees got plenty of attention, mainly on the modern side of the scene or have I got that wrong? Plus I've heard the Joann Garret and Richard Knight played out at a few nighters and at lots of soul nights, though I wouldn't say they've gone big but they do seem to be on the way up.
Soulfool Posted January 9, 2011 Posted January 9, 2011 Haven't heard most of the tracks on that list but judging by the feedback and the fact that people bother to put them up tells me that they are all worthy of a spin, my question from all of them is, how does Johnny Daye - Good Time (Jomada) fare at the venues, if at all? Reason I ask is that I played it just last night and it sounded damned good!! David.
