Wilxy Posted December 15, 2010 Posted December 15, 2010 (edited) I'm sure I read something recently with regard to a Solid Solution title-"Think about it girl" as a Soul"O"Sonic album track? (I may be dreaming alas). Anyway to cut to the chase I came across a 45 of the item, which I appreciate is not the "real deal" so to speak but am interested to know what the story is on it, if anyone can help, I'd be grateful? cheers wilxy Edited December 16, 2010 by wilxy
Sebastian Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Issued both on an LP and a 45 on the SILVER SPOON label. Re-issued a couple of years ago on that SOUL "O" SONIC 45. The original LP looks like this: The original 7" looks like this:
Dave Thorley Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Hi Mike Your right there was a long thread on here, as Clarkie was going to sell one, don't know if he did in the end. I'm sure someone on here (mods) could find it.
Steve G Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Yes Clarkie sold his - to Japan I believe he told me....
Simon M Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Yes Clarkie sold his - to Japan I believe he told me.... Yep I started the thread , Ian said thanks via email . How many sevens of this out there . Hey Steve I saw another Truth 7 , you got one yet
Wilxy Posted December 16, 2010 Author Posted December 16, 2010 Thanks for the feedback guys Any ideas to the value of both the Silver spoon issued 45 and the Album, and are there any out there for sale? cheers wilxy
Sebastian Posted December 16, 2010 Posted December 16, 2010 Any ideas to the value of both the Silver spoon issued 45 and the Album, and are there any out there for sale? The LP regularly sells for $30-$40 on eBay (there are two expensive buy-it-now copies on there right now). Very few known copies of the 45 however so there's no established "value" for that one as far as I know.

Sebastian Posted December 18, 2010 Posted December 18, 2010 Is it L.O.V.E seems to ring a bell There might be more releases on the label, but "L.O.V.E." is indeed one of them:
heikki 1 Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Has anyone actually seen an "original" vinyl 45 of "Think about it girl"? I thought it was a wind-up by Ian Clark, he "scanned" the label to his own fanzine. Looks like Sebastian's scan is from the fanzine. Wasn't Ian a graphic designer?

Not that it proves anything, but Ian did have the 45 up for "offers" earlier this year on one of his lists. Spreading the rumour that the 45 actually didn't exist and that the label was "made up" by Ian seems to have been an attempt to divert people from actively trying to track down the 45. Having said that, I've only ever seen the scan of the 45 which I posted above. I've never seen another copy for sale anywhere. So... anything's possible, I guess? Sutty Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 Well Ian is a dab hand at design, he did the early Kent comps for Ady...

Sutty Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 I think you're aiming a bit high there... https://www.discogs.com/sell/list?release_id=1476814&ev=rb https://www.cdandlp.com/product/2/113941795/solid-solution-loving-you.html https://www.recordmania.net/?ref=lookup&recid=SLN62692&PHPSESSID=fd3e840febee85adc4df38713c8b7e0d https://www.musicstack.com/listings.cgi?find=solid_solution&t=loving_you_-_silver_spoon&media=Vinyl

Chalky Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 It has been discussed on here before about a 7inch of Think About It Girl and in the past I could have sworn everyone was under the impression that it didn't exist on a 45 and that Ian's was home made, an emi/cut with a self made label. It wasn't until Ian offered it for auction that opinions changed. I dobt saying it didn't exist would have stopped anyone looking for the 45. I've seen the Lp for around £30 plus.
Chalky Posted December 23, 2010 Posted December 23, 2010 two previous topics on this subject for you to catch up on....
Wilxy Posted December 23, 2010 Author Posted December 23, 2010 As a matter of interest, having initiated the thread.....The good young post lady, presented me with the album today
boba Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 what is the a-side to "think about it girl" (the actual released version, not the soul-o-sonic repro)? thanks in advance.
