Guest James Trouble Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 (edited) Original 10" studio acetate of The Primers AKA The Vines - It's Laid On You with original sleeve in tip top condition. My guess is this was recorded in the same session as their How Does It Grab You, but this is just my guess based on the production. A reasonable offer will get this one off exclusive northern soul dance floor winner that harks back to some of the more leftfield sounds that came out of Wigan. I'd prefer it go to a DJ with some chutzpah in the UK who'll put it to good use, so any UK scene DJs will get preference over a foreign bid. This record belongs on the UK northern scene. It also comes with a vintage 10" record box, very cool. There should be a sound file of it somewhere on this site, or I'll sort one later on tonight when I get back in from the office... Thanks JT Edited December 14, 2010 by James Trouble
Marc Forrest Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 This record belongs on the UK northern scene. How can any record belong to any country / nation`s scene ? If it would belong to anywhere then it would be the country of its origin, the USA. Excuse me, but that is total nonsense.
TOAD Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 btw i need a 10inch record box....anyone got one for sale ?

Hi Marc, I don't want to sound nationalistic, and forgive me if I do, but I do understand and have empathy with James' feelings and words. I think the key in his comments also sit in his reference to DJ that can do something with it. James clearly wants the sound to be played out and get recognition and become widely known. I think his suggestion that the UK would the 'best chance of this happening' is in balance also true. Marc, I know as do many here, that you and others have done some amazing things to break new northern records in other countries outside the UK, however James sentiments over a UK based DJ (with balls!) is understandable and on balance makes sense. In the future, this may well (and probably) not be the case, and you know my views on the future of the Northern/rare soul scene on a global footprint. Warm regards, Andy

It belongs on the UK northern scene, end of I don't want much for it, somewhere around the £300-£500 mark would land it in the right hands. Over seas buyers, like from Germany, I'd want double that and no paypal from anyone in foreign lands, like Marc, it would have to be cash. Paypal is fine for UK DJs though. If you don't get the message in the post Dave, then the source of your "laughable" inclination and dare i say 'problem may just well sit within yourself. Your post strikes of those champions of political correctness. I live by open and honesty and freedom of speech. The day that becomes a dying breed, will be a sad one. Andy Killick
KevH Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 ..and just like that.....he's back. Got the right to sell to who you want.
Marc Forrest Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Got the right to sell to who you want. Exactly, and any foreign interested party is invited to ask some of his English fellas to discuss and finalize the deal with James and let them even do the paypal thingy for you. Would save the foreign buyer 50 % of the price and the risk of sending cash

How come you have to use other people's ebay and paypal accounts? That's another understandable reason for putting the price up for anyone buying from Germany, repricing of risk and all that, without wanting to harm myself Edited December 14, 2010 by James Trouble

Andy Killick Andy, I've no problem Mate, believe me. Must admit I've been called a lot of things over the years but never politically correct! I don't think you understood my post. It had nothing to with PC'ness but rather about the patronising nature of some of the UK 'scene', and how for some, sometimes it becomes more about 'The Scene', than about the actual music. If you can't see that then that's fair enough, we all see things in different ways. Regards, Dave

But without the music there is no scene, and for many without the scene there is not the same enjoyment of the music. Horses for courses, badgers for baiting and all that... I don't think that's a bad thing. Packed dance floor full of like minded folk at 5am in the morning is a better monument to the music than headphones and ipod, I thinks... That's another understandable reason for putting the price up for anyone buying from Germany, repricing of risk and all that, without wanting to harm myself hold it hold it...I am not booted off ebay, don`t know what makes you think so...oh, now I know. You mean because of the jumping and warped record a friend of mine bought off you on ebay via the person you did let sell your records on ebay (why I now start asking myself...has the honourable Mr Trouible been biooted off ebay ?) ? It really was very fair of you to not mention any warps and jumps and to top it off not even to consider a price reduction or a refund for said record. In fact another reason not to buy from you. But as I don`t like the acetate your advertising at all anyway (in fact I think its quite poor) I wouldn`t have thought of taking part anyway. Even not if it wouldn`t have been you selling it.
Guest James Trouble Posted December 14, 2010 Posted December 14, 2010 Record sold, pending payment...

Doesn't only happen in UK though Mate eh? That was my point. All good. Thread's bouncing along eh? Had any offers yet? Regards, Dave
