Rocky Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 (edited) I was digging through my old tunes and found a weird pressing - Chris Clark 'Something's Wrong' on one side and The Knights 'Those Things You Do' on the other. There's no date, numbers, matrix or anything, just hand written titles on a white lable with 'The Audio Lathe, Eugene, Oregon' printed in red. I can't find any references to it anywhere. Any ideas about the origin or value please? Tx Edited December 13, 2010 by Rocky
Guest john s Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 There's some info on Audio Lathe here... https://www.garagehangover.com/?q=taxonomy/term/20/9 Apparently it was run by Alan Graves, who "cut lots of "acetate" records for DJ's and juke boxes", got out of the business in 2008. US version of an Emidisc/Carver, then...

US version of an Emidisc/Carver, then... I know Alan....I think he restarted his business sometime in the late 1990s, after being out of it since the early 1970s. So the disc was probably done in the past decade. - George
Mick Holdsworth Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 There's some info on Audio Lathe here... https://www.garagehan...onomy/term/20/9 Apparently it was run by Alan Graves, who "cut lots of "acetate" records for DJ's and juke boxes", got out of the business in 2008. US version of an Emidisc/Carver, then... Audio Lathe was bought out about 2 or more years ago by 1uptechnologies ... just checked that and it is now 1upmultimedia.com/dubplate.html I used to use Audio Lathe as an alternative to Vinylcarvers - they were cheap, quick and good - $20 for a double sided 7" Unfortunately 1uptechnologies are very expensive - $37 plus insane shipping rates - and of course the TOTAL value PLUS shipping will get declared on the customs. I ended up paying about £95 total including customs charges for 2 x 7" acetates. Both were OK in quality, but they took so long to do them, and send them - plus customs delay, all in about 8 weeks. In fairness, the exchange rate was $1.40 something so it wouldn't be quite as expensive now in UK terms, but i bet it would be about £80 for 2 acetates Don't go there. Mick
Pete S Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 I used to get loads of acetates cut by Audio Lathe, even now I occasionally find Audio Lathe labels lying around the house, he sent me tons of spares. Last order was probably 2003.
