Great Big Daft Record Dilemma

ok here's my dilemma:

There's a 45 that i desperately want. Copies turn up now and again and they don't go for an awful lot of cash. So far, so normal. The problem is that the record is hardly, if ever, mentioned on this or other forums. I've also had it saved in my ebay searches for over six months now but not a sniff.

The problem is that I can only assume that the reason it's not discussed is that it's not at all well known. I'm sure that if more people were aware loads of people would be raving about it and it would be in the wants and play lists of many others.

So: If I post a want, people on here will research, listen and - I'm confident - the demand would zoom. My other alternative is to just be patient and wait. But I just NEED it.

Actually I think I've just answered my own question and I have to keep it to myself for now. Thanks for sharing my anguish though

Do not ask, definitely. Keep looking, patience is the most important thing when collecting records.

6 months without a copy on ebay isn't all that long in the scheme of things....... one will turn up just make sure you don't try and get it too cheap with a low bid. If you realy want it then bid accordingly.

Pretty much the advice I expected, so thanks. Thing is though, despite the lack of discussion it's not THAT obscure. I'll definitely bid over double what it's previously sold for though. Six months is too long when you get the bug - as you all know all to well.

You're right, six months is not long. To be precise though, I've wanted it a while longer but only got round to making it a saved search when it became obvious that I wasn't going bump into casually. By the time I registered the search I'd missed two on ebay - even though there hadn't been any for a couple of years before. They went cheaply too. Entirely my fault of course.

I had something very similar to this happen to me probably about 4 weeks ago now.

I collected the bobby / neal kimble 45s as I don't think he made a bad one but the fat fish release "working out your bag" always eluded me.

anyway finally got one off ebay for 10 bucks and I was the only bidder.

I expected at least some other bids but luck was on my side.

not been quite so lucky since though been getting outbid on practically everything.

Actually I'm in danger of building it up to be something more earthshaking than it really is. In reality it's just a nice tune that has the kind of sound that I'm into these days. Just surprised that it doesn't appear to have be played much.
