Suspect there are load of lofts with similar collections from the mid 70s - but you never know, among them there may be one or two real gems.

Seen a few recently, of the same label design as your scan Dave, listed as "2nd Issue" or "70's Reissue". Sometimes difficult to tell wether label is a very feint blue/green or white though.

Also seen these listed as originals:

........same design as Kris has, but with a Maddison address crossed through. Have to admit I was uncertain when I took a punt on one of these in the closing stages of an auction.

this is the one i was sold, except the 1615 W Madison address isn't crossed out. it is the same label design as all the other Colt 45s I have (Homesick James etc) The first time I have seen the other design is in Dave's post. I have emailed the seller asking what the story is....... If it was booted as promo on that label design I will not be impressed.

I'll dig my Gold stocker out tomorrow and take a picture of it for you, can't do it now as Mrs B. is in bed, but no on the Gold Issue/Stock copy the horse is above Colt rather than splitting the Co and lt.

perhaps the label design change occured between the wlp & stock copies, could have something to do with the address being crossed out on some promos & then being absent completely on the stock copies?? Of course a wlp with colt written below the horse would screw that theory....

ok, just checked out a bunch on popsike.

I think it goes something like this:

WLP - with Madison address (sometimes crossed out), Sheldon stamp & scratched release number in deadwax (this is consistent with other wlp colt 45s I have but the release number does not match the sequence as my others are 3 digit numbers)

Gold stock - Colt written under the horse, label type/credits similar to wlp (original stock, the gold label matches other gold label CJ related stock 45s I have. If consistent with these this should have the Sheldon stamp in the deadwax also)

off white (light green) stock - Colt written below the horse but with different label credits (original 2nd press??)

Re Bobby Woods, you'll find it's evolved into a thread of it's own in the "The Sharp End Of Vinyl" section.

The Freda Payne on Inferno must be comparatively low value, though interestingly the gold/cream vinyl shown is a different take to the norm. I think it's actually the original take before it was amended to help achieve chart success. If I remember correctly there's either an extra verse, or some of the lines are different and it was considered too gloomy. I'm sure there was a thread on it a few years back.
