Dewsburyborn Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 Anyone got a scan please? Also, have this been booted? TIA Julian Hello Julian Your posting gives me an opportunity to say that this will be the next release on 'Hit and Run' in January 2011. Full details will appear on the website (www.garryjcape.com) in a couple of weeks. Being a Soulscape release, it goes without saying that this is being done in accord with Bob McRee the producer and owner of the masters. Regards Garry

Prophonics 2029 Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 From the master tapes or just dubbed of a disc??
Benji Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 ... with Bob McRee the producer and owner of the masters. From the master tapes or just dubbed of a disc??
Dewsburyborn Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 (edited) From the master tapes or just dubbed of a disc?? just dubbed OFF a disc ...... but it probably sounds better than the original pressing... there seems to be this misconception amongst some that anything that isn't taken off the master tapes is inferior ? I've lost count of the number of times where I've found unreleased master tapes that have been shagged beyond use ..... and in some cases I've had to resort to dubbing vinyl even where the master tapes do exist because they're no good anymore. I recall a previous thread on Soul Source where it has been well written that no master tapes exist anymore for this and most of Bob McRee's other stuff. Edited December 9, 2010 by dewsburyborn

I have bought so many reputable named re-issues in the past where the original is pressed off centre and know the re-issue is, suppose its accurate but sounds like crap.
Sebastian Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I have bought so many reputable named re-issues in the past where the original is pressed off centre and know the re-issue is, suppose its accurate but sounds like crap. I've experienced that a lot as well, mostly on CDs though (which is even more frustrating in my opinion). I think it's just a case of the person responsible for the reissue being lazy and careless. I mean seriously, if a large centre-hole 7" is pressed off-centre, why not spend an extra minute or two to properly align the record (without using the middle) prior to doing the dub?

Correct Sebastian ! The master sent to manufacturing sounded 1st class and I have every confidence that the TPs soon to be received will sound exactly the same before they get the OK to proceed.
