Guest Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Hope i'm not putting this in the wrong place folks, but i'm depressed to say that a holdal containing my 45 black DJ box was stolen from me at Liverpool Street Station on Sat December 4th. Being the dj box, there was over 20 years worth of collecting there, precious memories, and livelihood at the moment in there. Was hoping if anyone in the London areas suddenly sees a collection like this appear, or if any dealers are approached, they could let me know. I'll stick the list below. My numbers 07952716787. I really couldn't say how invaluable any help would be. Guest Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 thats really sad to hear...wont be easy to sell as a job lot...good job you have a great memory to remember what was in the box hope you get them back regards moldie
Kevinkent Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 Craig, what exactly do you mean by "stolen from me"? Every main line BR station in London must be smothered with CCTV. If you were robbed or had left an "unattended package", it will surely have been spotted by the cameras so have you reported the loss? Alternatively, if you have misplaced your bag then contacting the stations Lost Property office just might yield a result. Either way, good luck with getting your records back buddy. Moldie is right - how on earth did you manage such a precise list of what was in your playbox? Had it been me, I'd be struggling to remember what was packed so at least you've got a good start towards identifying your stuff. There's a record fair at Spitalfields Market, just down the road, on Fridays (alternate Fridays?) which might be a good place to start looking if the theft is down to a local opportunist. - Kev.
Pete S Posted December 8, 2010 Posted December 8, 2010 I know this is of no consolation now but all of the soul and all but 3 of the reggae/ska are replaceable fairly easily. If I had spares I'd have done em you cheap.
Guest Carl Dixon Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 I think individuals work the stations and other busy area's doing this without a clue to what's inside the bags, cases etc. This is something similar: https://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2010/dec/07/stradivarius-violin-stolen-london I wonder whether going back around the same time and just watching anybody doing what you did and see who comes out the woodwork, armed with your mobile camera of course.

No doubt come across them again, especially the cheap islands, but others were really treasured items. Let me know if any spares come in.
Wiggyflat Posted December 9, 2010 Posted December 9, 2010 The place is covered in CCTV.Were they stolen or lost though?.If you have proof they were stolen then report it as a crime online.British Transport Police.Get a list of London record shops and visit/send them the list......had a similar thing happen to me about 20 years ago.Deejaying in Kilburn....had a few too many.Taxi home. All records in the house but one box missing.Check everywhere and then try and track the taxi down.Look in the boot.Nothing.....6 months later girlfriend calls me at work.Ive just found your record box tucked into next doors front door alcove.Taxi driver put it there by mistake..I thought i was the drunk one. Also had a nasty episode with an ex who sold/got rid of a load of my records...I was also involved in recovering all of Cat Stevens original mastertapes from a Polish crime gang.....but thats another story.Hope you have some luck.

Hi bad luck, it hurts no matter what you have in the box they were your records, yes the place to go would have been spitifields market on a wednesday there are a lotta record dealers, however that may make you more pissed of if you see your records and the dealer is haveing none of it, Dave
Hammersoul Posted December 20, 2010 Posted December 20, 2010 Your best bets are: phone/write to lost property,Baker st,London,Nw1.If you go on Tfl website your find details.Long shot but all lost property is now sent to same place,be it Bus/Tube/train/cabs.Maybe the thief left the records in station,i know there used to be a gang working Liverpool st but i thought transport police had moved em on cos i haven`t seen them for years now. Other option is there`s a record shop just off Brick Lane, maybe they tried to offload there, when i`m next in area if you pm me your mobile,i`ll text you the details unless someone knows the shop i`m talking about? Good luck with your search/every Djcollectors worst nightmare..
