Agentsmith Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 ============================================================================= Based on your "What the f**k was that"?? comment....it has to be....... LATE ON THIS POST....AGAIN!( YAWN ) agree with this, just had an earful of the soundclip and, YES, i believe played just recently, probably at stoke but WOW!, in its day and in its element a guarenteed floor filler. just noticed dave mitchell & the screamers " THE TRIP" 100 mph or what? the jewells "WE GOT TOGETHERNESS" the present " MANY'S THE SLIP" joey dee "ITS GOT YOU" the centuries "JACK 23" popcorn wylie, saxie russell, tamangoes, william powell, vicky baines, cecil washington, rita & the tiara's, holly st james, and of recent years.... magnetics "lady in green", i'll keep holding on", nancy wilcox " gamblers blues/ he'll be leavin you" etc etc. I GUESS ITS THE " THE HAIRS ON THE BACK OF THE NECK " STUFF, ALTHOUGH WE ALL HAVE OUR OWN DEFINITION,...ME,...I THINK ITS GOT A LOT TO DO WITH HARPSICHORDS, HARPS, MARIMBAS, DRIVING BASS LINES AND INCESSENT PERCUSSION OH, AND NOT TO FORGET...GREAT HARMONIES AND THE OCCASIONAL OUTSTANDING VOICE OF A NIGHTINGALE WHO JUST SO HAPPENS TO ATTRACT ALL THESE ASPECTS,...SUCH AS LINDA JONES OR TOBI LARK. ........IS THAT A BROAD CONCENSUS?
Wiggyflat Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Different ones for different reasons -first one was late 78 heard it at the casino stoped wearing baggies etc and got into real soul after this -it was the four tempos got to have you on rampart ,just an incredible haunting sound think Evison played it in his oldies spot -OTHERS HAVE IN INCLUDED-the Butch cover up "just go on and laugh"and the first time i heard both the barons of soul and Jesse james love is alright, suppose all these would be classed as good northern soul!! On the deep and sweet side i am discovering stuff everyday in my volts that blows me away played Michael Washington-[wondering] this morning must of put it aside it was a gift of Paul Sadot i it blew me away as did the flipside of moody women Jerry Butler bloody sleepers on the flip of passed popular records still surprising you after all these years, deep and sweet gobsmacks me more these days but do look forward to getting out a bit more next year and been blown away at some of the more upfront venues !! BAZ A Four Tempos-Got To Have You................amazing tune...they outdo the Four Tops on this. This Is The Way I feel aint bad either and both cheap as chips Was it ever spun anywhere as a newie?

BAZ A Four Tempos-Got To Have You................amazing tune...they outdo the Four Tops on this. This Is The Way I feel aint bad either and both cheap as chips Was it ever spun anywhere as a newie?

Guest moggy Posted January 5, 2011 Posted January 5, 2011 I was guilty of making L. Trider and Profiles quite popular here in Southern Germany over a decade ago. Don't know if I'd play them nowadays (probably not). Wish I had been guilty of making any of your top three tunes popular One that left me gobsmacked from the very first time was George Freeman - Down and out. Fantastic production... Guest manusf3a Posted June 20, 2012 Posted June 20, 2012 Manifesto James Lewis and a case of time Legend To right its a legend,it certainly hit me where it hurt when it came blasting out from the speakers all lights blaring like a runaway express train,if you are looking for one that stands out as leaving you gobsmacked this has got to be up there, the brass the vocals the words penetrating your mind even on first hearing so that the song sounds in your head in patches and bits for days afterwards that want you to hear it again so that you can learn more of the words ,wondering exactly what they say, experience that rush of sound like a crazed express train tearing down the line a loose runaway on the tracks and it doesnt look like theyl get the brakes to work.Yes I did hear it out of my skull on gear and it was well over thirty years ago,and it did make my hair stand on end and but it would also have done that hearing it straight but not at an all nighter which I never attended straight, that I would have ,well I couldnt imagine how pissed off I would of been having to spend the night straight.I am suprised it has not been among many other folks choices, still ,personal choice and all that, for me though it s up there but there are lots of others for me also from joe hicks to curtis mayfield and the fook en magic youve been cheating.
