I think this is the issue of Willie Hobbs How Could My Baby Know. It looks like this and Mr Lovemaker were both demo'd seperately as single sided demo's

Eddie Hubbard takes the credit on this one.... We were discussing Willie Hobbs on EMS (I think) a few years ago and Eddie highlighted this, which until then was unknown to me also. It's been in refosoul since then...

It also got a South African release on Monument

Can anyone tell me anything about Charles Smith who did a few excellent 45s on Seventy Seven. Did he release anything else either under that name or another?

77-106 - Charles Smith & Jeff Cooper - My Great Loss (Ashes To Ashes) / Glad To Be Home - 1972

77-115 - Charles Smith - I'm Useless / Pull Me Out Of The Water

77-121 - Charles Smith - Why Can't I Cry / It's Getting Harder To Get By - 1973

77-129 - Charles Smith - Full Time Fool / I Want To Love You - 1973

So far I haven't heard a duff track from him, for instance --------

Charles Smith - I'm Useless - ss7

I had quite a bit of stuff to post in this thread but got busy. I love The Monarchs "What Made You Change Your Mind" on SS7. I recently got Piney Brown "Nashville Wimmin" which I'm liking at the moment. Ella Washington has so many great sides. A lot of the common titles like Ella Washington & Joe Simon got local New Zealand presses on the Monument label. They look really nice but aren't great (as loud) pressings  as the US ones.

Don' t know if the scan will show (first ever attempt!) but I've just bought

JOE SIMON - LONG HOT SUMMER and it's on the Black Sound Stage 7 label but

has Disc Jockey etc. text underneath , I thought they were all Black/White demos?

Cheers

Swifty
