All the Best, Neil Neil sent me a white lable test pressing of this at the weekend and I must say it's sublime, the sound quality is without question outstanding, the Alt take is wonderful, bottom line is you won't spend a better twenty quid this Christmas, I would advise people to be quick on this as the 500 copies will be swallowed up pretty quicky, legit and all above board and a nice way to own a stunning tune well the only way being that the original Ovide 45 is so hard to find infact almost impossible. Regards - Mark Bicknell.

Maybe you have an answer for that, too!? I have no idea on Neil's pricing struture? and I'm sure he will answer your question regarding this, perhaps because it's a 500 limited run where as other legit reissues are pressed in greater quantity I don't honestly know, rule of thumb being the more copies you have pressed the cheaper it will be, knowing Neil as one of the good guy's I'm pretty sure whioever owns the publishing on this will get their dues. Lidle sells stuff cheaper than Sainsburys ,,,, Sainsburys dont have expain why there stuffs dearer!! Why should Neil ? Well he doesn't. Neither I don't argue about the quality nor do I question his achievements in the soul scene. I just have a normal question. He sells this reissue (more or less every soul reissue is 500-1000 pressed records, btw, so it's NOT a small quantity it's normal nowadays) for at least double the price of other reissues. I just ask why? Btw, no need for this aggressive tone!! Edited November 23, 2010 by JohnnyHitman
Guest JohnnyHitman Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 Apart from that I think this is a lovely tune and would like to hear a snippet of the alternate take if that is possible

Hi Johnny, for what it's worth ,maybe some would consider it etiquette to send a pm to Neil for answer to your question rather than possibly jeopordise his sales page. I've never met Neil ,have nothing to do with the distribution of this 45 ....just offering my opinion as to why you got a "aggressive " reply . Hope this does'nt offend you .

On second reading of my post i dont think i was being aggresive but hey ho! Apologies if i offended you!
Neil Rushton Posted November 23, 2010 Author Posted November 23, 2010 Sorry Neil, 20 quid for a reissue??! I hope TSU Toronados will get a fair amount of that dosh??! Well, maybe u can explain why the price is so high compared to other legit reissues, please. Just wondering... I don't know if the TSU Toronados "will get a fair amount of that dosh". That's between them and the owner of the master recording. The group might be unrecouped on their royalty account or might not even these days be entitled to earn royalties from their recordings. What I do know is that the master owner demanded and got me from me a much bigger buy out fee than many other master owners would charge, as much as 3/4 times more. In football terms I ended up paying a Manchester City type transfer fee! If I had stuck to the prices (wholesale/retail) that other releases go for - and I know the deals as I distribute/wholesale some other labels - I would have struggled to break even on the kind of niche sales you can expect for this kind of specialist release. Expecting all re-issues to go for the same price is a bit like saying all cars should cost the same, or all meals in all restaurants. Some labels doing the reissuing actually own the rights to the recording and will have a royalty liability based on the very low deals done in the 60's so do not have the costs in that regard as for instance I did in this case.. I actally own the worldwide rigtts to "Your Autumn Of Tomorrow" - The Crow and when I put that out next year I will be charging £10 retail, not £20, as I will not have the same costs as I have had for TSU Toranados. I think £20 is fair enough for 1,000 Wonders - and the b-sdie is not a reissue, this is the first time it has been released (on single at least, and I think any format) since it was recorded. Anyway there's been a healthy amount of pre-orders so thanks to everyone who has supported it. And just think - if you pay £1300 for a copy on Ovide the the group will not see ANY of that money. All the Best, Neil
Guest JohnnyHitman Posted November 23, 2010 Posted November 23, 2010 First off all I didn't want to offend anybody I was just surprised about the high price. Neil explained it case closed, thx Neil I'm still interested in the B Side, is it possible to upload a snippet on Refosoul? I don't know if the TSU Toronados "will get a fair amount of that dosh".
