All fans of Ray Agee will be wondering about this,me included

A suprising record to turn up in 2010 considering that after almost 40 years of collectors and dealers non stop searching ? huh.gif

But is it all THAT rare, surely most serious collectors already have a copy since donkeys years back????////???

How Many Copies Are About? ? Don't hear it played out Much ! !

one of the best NS records ever IMO Des Parker reckons its one the best r&b ones as well, had mine over 20 years and still get the goose bumps every time i hear it, a lot better than that flourecent smoggy thing

Absolutely spot on Ted, in my, and I stress MY opinion, the best R& B record ever - it's got the F***ing lot. Bought mine for £750 a fair few years ago, and since then have been offered some excellent cash offers for it, but can't bear to part with it, never ever tire of it, what a voice!!!

john philips has one although his copy now resides in austrailia he did bring it back over for a visit and played it at our ` chillout` 2nd anniversary in aug. must be a 10 copy record at most.. dont think theres anymore than that. although i love ray agee .... flourescent smogg edges it for me as its more my barrow

Sold one on here on behalf of someone from the States a few years ago - £1800 I think it was

Gary again... I've listened to those as well, Pete !

So many future monsters in his sets from back then, quite mind-blowing ...He doesn't get the credit due probably as they were dark days for the scene when Mr Rushbrooke was ruling the decks..

what he played (to an almost empty dancefloor) and what was in his boxes was totally mindblowing,I think he was a well known collector ?

I sold this to Gary Rushbrooke probably around 1979/80 covered up as James Conwell - Asking price back then was around £150.00. At the same time he bought The Vondells - Covered up as the Stagemasters and The Admirations on Peaches covered as Timothy Wilson and the pigtails all for £150 each.

Serious money back then !!!

Did Searling have/play this as well, Dave, or was it a Rushbrooke exclusive?

Des

Rushbrooke exclusive at the time Des. I'd been playing it since late '78 as a find from one of my early trips to California, although Blue Max told me he had spun it at the Cats.

i heard so much stuff that g r played that i was f*** if i could remember a single one of em in the morning going home.just had to go back again the following week. Dancing like a loon to something , and as you were going to ask someone the title or artist, the next one would wipe it clean from your memory. the beauty and the curse of a great dj. or the lack of a bloody tape recorder! heh heh

Rob,

As an unknown The Vondells covered up at the time seemed the right price and l'm pretty sure once uncovered a few copies turned up hence the lower price then !!!

NOW £1,000 maybe ????

First time l played it out was at a 'niter at the Birmingham Locarno around '78 - organised by N. Rushton.

Hmmm....... cant ever remember there ever being an empty dance floor at the Oddfellows, and the DJ (This term is only used to describe in this instance a man that played the said tune) was Tony Clayton, he had every record of any note in those boxes yet he did not even know it. The collection was not collected by himself it was the late Nev Wearys entire collection but have no idea how TC managed to obtain it.

not if you look at that seller's feedback

I've never bought from the seller but have looked at several of his records for sale and from the pics his 'vg+' records are trashed. I remember an ABC promo Natural Four "I thought...." was graded 'vg+' if not better and the label was heavily scuffed and the record looked it had no 'gloss'. No way I would touch anything without hearing it. Besides, I get the impression he would be a pain to deal with if you had a complaint.
