Great studio work on this LP by Eugene Record, Willie Henderson, Johnny Pate and others. SEALED $15 Shawn Phillips - Spaced (A&M) : Sampled be DJ Shadow's "What Does Your Soul Look Like". M- (sold)$15 Trilark - Love Never Looked Better / Instrumental (Handshake) : from the ill Modern Soul LP comes this midtempo dancefloor stunner! Great horn and electric guitar. M- $40 Hit Em Hard SDTK - v/a (BDE) : great blaxploitation movie sdtk! Instrumental funk joints, orchestra funk, blues, and the funky sister soul of Delilah Moore's "I Need Your Love", M- (was sealed and played once for recording) $15 Cannonball Adderley - Lovers... (Fantasy) : beautifully funky Jazz. Nascente with the Funk Jazz, N.O. Strut with that funky drum break, Lovers with its wonderful musical breakdowns, and more. Truly awesome. Plays M- but a two surface scratches makes it VG+ $15 SCRA - The Ship Album (Atlantic) : ill funky Rock record, Our Ship has the freshest Hip Hop beat with flute, 23 Skadoo is heavy drum and guitar funk Rock track, and Freak is the ultimate B-Boy jam cause the tune is upbeat with lyrics like "you know they love him/that's cause they despise him/they hate the things he represents/but wish they could be a bit more like him"... anyway, I used to break to it, M- $10 Grady Tate - Feeling Life (Skye) : jay berliner on the guitar, Jerome Richardson on the reeds, ron carter on the bass... it's a vocal record with nice instrumentation. M- $20 Sonlight - Sonlight (Light) : "Walk in the Spirit" is a slow to midtempo Funk Psych head nodder! The drummer keeps a real steady beat, electric guitar is nasty, ill horn blower, and the vocalist has a nice vocal. M- $20 Veronique Sanson - Hollywood (Elektra/France) : very funky French LP which features Harvey Mason, Ray Parker Jr, James Gadson, and more. 4 tracks which are very sampleable, VG+ (few light crackles otherwise Minty) $10 George Tipton - Nilsson By Tipton (WB) : "Rainmaker" drum break (a little better) that Harry Nilsson has on his LP. M- $15 Robert Parker - Barefootin' (Nola) : great New Orleans Soul Blues, funky tracks like The Scratch and Happy Feet, Ballads like Directly from My Heart, and Northern Soul tunes, M- $20 Esoteric Circle - George Russell Presents... (Flying Dutchman) : real nice Scandinavian Jazz record with Jan Garbarek, Jon Christensen, Terje Rypdal, & Arild Anderson, real cool breaks, bass lines to sample and freaked out Jazz music, M- Promo $25 SEALED Ruby Jones - Ruby Jones (Curtom) : ill female Funk Rock! Head nodding beats on Curtis Mayfield's label. Drum break on 99000 Times, funky Psyched out Looking Out At Tomorrow, the ill B-Boy opening of 46th St, and a cover of Curtis' "Stone Junkie", SEALED $30 Ghana Soul Explosion - Soul Makossa (Pickwick) : extremely Funky and Soulful LP, covers of Soul Makossa, Are You Man Enough (from Shaft in Africa), Lean On Me, Superstition, etc. you need this in your life, plays M- but has surface scratches on the Soul side so it's a VG+ $20 Hedva & David - Hedva & David (H&D) : hebrew record with the ill beat tune of "Illusions" that includes a huge drumbreak and some nice vocal samples, M- $60 Vibrations - Taking A New Step (Mandala) : great Soul LP, features the funky "Aint No Greens in Harlems", the Group Soul sound of "Take A Step", the Soul dance tune of "Man Overboard", and the African rhythms of Kazoo (very B-Boy oriented in my opinion), Vinyl is M- Promo, but the jacket has radio station writing and a sticker on it. $125 Daz Rene - Discover (Try Hard) : beautiful and hard to get Soul LP out of LA, female Deep Soul tunes, sister Funk tune "the Back Street", the fast beat with that nasty electric guitar driven track "Ghettos of Our Mind", crazy slow to uptempo (shit has a silly nice blend from slow to fast back to slow and ends fast...what?!? shit is bonkers!) hard head nodding beat of "Change", and a cool female cover of "Here I Am Baby", plus more... M- (hold)$25 A Spice of Ice - I Need Your Lovin (Iceland) : LA Modern Soul record from 82, the title track is a great M'Soul Ballad with a midtempo beat, and three other tunes to groove to. M- and it includes the insert $20 Etta James - ...Sings Funk (Cadet) : nasty Soul Blues with that funky beat done like no one but Ms Peaches!, Tighten Up Your Own Thing, Quick Reaction are the two that you Funk kids are checking for, the grown-ups got the rest of these tunes for ourselves...
