Well me & my mate Pete Wickam where that busy enjoying WIGAN that we never got round to going to CLEETHORPES, So we can't really comment on the other place :D I suppose if we had started having shit nights @ WIGAN we may have gone East to CLEETHORPES :search: I can honestly say that we had great nights @ Wigan Casino everytime we went :D Had a few SHIT Journeys home though.... :D

It would be difficult to prove that there were records played at Cleggy and not Wigan, but there were some like Elusive, as suggested by Jamie (leave him alone Andy!!! :D ), Crow, Black Nasty, Willie J, Skullsnaps and my avatar that were readily accepted at Cleggy but had a very limited response at Wigan.

I reckon I've seen World Column on a Wigan compilation CD, which I think is a bit ironic really.

And before anybody asks, I did go to both places in 75/6 onwards......just preferred the more open-minded approach at Cleethorpes

Was that played at Wigan too??? :D:D:thumbsup:

Yes it's Weird So Is The Sun as you say not really a WIGAN sound, But looking @ the Records that you listed I automaticaly think of YATE & SAMANTHA's :D I Suppose it really depends on where you were when you first heard them  Which doesn't mean that was the first place that they were played :D bit confusing all this, I am going to have some more GIN

Sam's shared certain DJs with Cleggy at that time, but surely Yate would have followed those?

I know for a fact that "I'm Your Pimp" and also "Pusherman" were broken at Cleggy and doubt if either were played at Wigan....though Andy would be able to say more about the Wigan part :D

Can you remember who played I Y P?

I've always liked Trespassing the best of the three, but I'm in a very small minority there, I fancy! :D:thumbsup:

It was 30 odd years ago you know, :D I remember it being played, But who played it ???? I think it was something that they put in the water @ WIGAN that affects your memory  I can remember Russ Winstanley Playing Dean Parish "I'm On My Way" almost every week just before being kicked out but that is about it :D

I read on a 'Pusherman' thread on here maybe a year or so ago that someone had it on a Pat Brady tape from Wigan, maybe I'm getting mixed up! I'll have a look :D

Here's that Pusherman thread:

>>Pusherman<<

Doesn't really clarify to be honest  and Gawd knows where I got Pat from!! :D

I reckon Crow is one you either love or hate....I'm in the former camp!

Right on Pusherman Dave, but Skullsnaps first played by John Vincent.

World Column got a lot of plays at Wigan if I remember rightly, as JV had it and played it there.

And Andys right, that bloke from Leeds is a slag

Trespassin is a nice track-pardon me form intruding on this entertaining little conversation, but I was told that 'My hang up...' was a Mecca Record-as for Babe Ruth-anyone want to buy a Demo of it ????

Just thought I'd bang this up for anyone who fancies a listen:

I'm playing this quite a lot at the moment, and to a good response.

That's good enough for me

What about Spooky and Sue then who was that first played by... cos thats one of me favs from there

Which version though? Was S&S the main one at Clegg?

Moments & Chuck Jackson.

For years I preferred the Chuck Jackson, that "Baby Baby Baby I'm so uptite, so uptite...." is just perfection and you don't get the extra vocal "ad-libbing" in the other 2 versions.

What about Stanley Woodruff - What Took You So Long

Ah man, what a tune

Stanley Woodruff - What Took You So Long Can never makr my mind up on this, some times i like iy some times i dont

How about the Anderson Bros 'I can see him' to me its a Cleethorpes Sound if not its a Mecca tune, Now it seems to be a Wigan Sound ????

Chuck Jackson, Ive still not heard this, every ones tells me I must of.

Just S&S Comes to my mind when I think about it. Sound file any Body, please.

A tune that allways comes to mind when I think of the Winter gardens Dayers is Gloria Taylor 'You Gotta Pay The Price' and every time I hear it it takes me back.

:good:
