Guest Gogs Posted October 21, 2010 Posted October 21, 2010 see lots of the 1975 issues (3024) going through ebay but what about a 3002 with a "factory sample" label. btw see loads of 3024's go through listed as the original. (Not for sale just interested). Thanks for any replies. But don't slag it off; this was a big record on our scene and one of my favourites.

Yep agree noticed the same myself , think its down this, unless you take an intrest in uk collecting its a bit of a secret that 3002 was the first issue , maybe there is a bit of re activation going on with the single and djs not collectors are paying a premium at the moment for any copy.

I remember a 3002 going through JM auction about a year ago (bet it turns out to be three years!) but can't recall the premium price. Curiosity led me to popsike. There's been a white label promo 3002 with info sheet go through ebay in Feb 2010 for £83. There's a couple more 3002 gone through ebay for around £20. I know that doesn't give the whole picture but just a little bit of info that may help. Dean
Pete S Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I'd ask £20 for 3002 and £5 for the second issue

Garswood Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) didn't know about the two different issue numbers, so the 3024 is 1975 and the 3002 is 1972, this chap has one for sale ,3024 but dated 1972, £65 a bit steep me thinks LOOK Edited October 22, 2010 by garswood

Dave Pinch Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 the 3002 issue from 1972 is not common IMO. do proper demo`s exist. all i have seen are issue copies with a sample sticker ( like mine) or a plain white label with hand written stuff on it. also there was no american 45 0f it. lets face it. if it wasnt played on the scene there would not have been a 3024 copy. also repromoted on 3024 but with a tamla motown label issued in 1979 i think dave

Mick Holdsworth Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 saw it at https://www.rarenorth...-night/#product £50 as a demo (can't spot any demo/promo id on it) This one is the 1975 issue from Australia - It's actually a different mix without the Four Seasons - Franki Valli sings the opening lines which I think Is unique to this release. Australia also had a 1972 release on Mowest - only ever seen a demo, but I'm sure it was issued. It has MW3002 in brackets under the release number. Cheers Mick
Thecivilservice Posted October 24, 2010 Posted October 24, 2010 Had no idea 3024 was worth money. I must have half a dozen copies of this from charity shops, job lots etc. So many that I stopped buying them. I'll have to get selling them ASAP

As stated earlier people don't seem to realise that this is the re-issue.

paultp Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 So is this about right for the test pressing? - on eBay [here] - can't easily copy the picture these days. Think the seller is Paul Harris from Bradford, bought the odd thing off him.
Dean Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 How's this for your eye's spot the big blue A That's not the first time I've done that. Been looking for some subtle print to miss the bleedin obvious. Really didn't see it until you pointed it out . . . . . should've gone to specsavers.

Hi All ..Mick Holsworth had 1 copy in hiis box at the TORCH 10 DOO, last Saturday for £60, I normally trade any copys to Mick Smith, iI think he sells the for £25 + in mint condition, HE IS AT WOLVERHAMPTON RECORD FAIR THIS SATURDAY. In my humble opinion this record is much under valued, the only people that I remember stocking it before the reissue was SELECTOR DISC Leicester & Carlows in Bedford, and if they sold a box full it would amaze me,(25 in a box)? I have 2 spares and 1 reissue Demo, if you want to trade:ph34r: DAVE

I was thinking along the lines of £15-£30 depending on condition, But i thought it to be quite rare so i could be wrong as everybody seems to have a copy.
Petedillon Posted November 5, 2010 Posted November 5, 2010 I sold a copy of the re-issue on regular UK Tamla Motown label but with a MW3024 number instead of a TMG about 10 years back for £20, I still regret it, think I should've hung on to it for the unusual aspect alone.never seen another...at the time I asked around but no-one knew what its story was, apart maybe from a shortage of Mowest labels!

Thecivilservice Posted November 7, 2010 Posted November 7, 2010 Found a mint 3002 for £1 last week - Leeds market. Guess the guy was so used to seeing 3024 he put it in the quid box without checking!

Paul R Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 The first time I heard it at Wigan, I remember seeing it in the deletion box in a record shop in Ormskirk. I bought it for 35p and sold it the following Saturday at the Casino for £5, no problem. Good money then!!! Paul
Douglas Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Steve Whittle turned down £700 for his copy, as it was the final record he played in MR M'S on the casino's final night.

That's the same as my copy. I always assumed it was later re-issue (1979-80ish?) and lesser than the Mowest. Seems most go for over £20.00.
maslar Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Steve Whittle turned down £700 for his copy, as it was the final record he played in MR M'S on the casino's final night. That was definitely the case at the first "last nighter" (Sept18). I was never one for Ms but most of my mates were and they were dancing up on the balcony as it came to an end. I went up there and hung about just out of interest to see what the last record would be. It seemed to overrun by quite a bit and then The Night ended it all. Not sure what happened at the two? nighters they had after that or even if Ms was open.

Guest Gogs Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 I've a copy of the Motown issue---£20 ??? you live and learn As this is a 2nd re-issue i'm rather surprised, as mowest 1st re-issue (3024) can go for a fiver.

Yes but the Mowest reissue sold 100,000 copies and made the top 10, it shouldn't really be worth more than a single by The Wombles or Mud, the black Tamla Motown issue was in the late 70's and probably only sold a couple of thousand. I didn't realize that the motown issue was so rare, But still £20 for a third issue?. Unless your trying to complete the series (that's probably the answer), i still wouldn't pay that.
