45cellar Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Hey Dave this topic must be making your mouth water! Few that might be worth mentioning -not super rare but elusive Daybreak I Need Love PAP Otis Smith Let Her Go Perception The Shadows My Love Is Gone USA DJ
Bo Diddley Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Hi Dave. How many Exit's wdj's turned up.? A box of 50 or 200?.The Carole Waller wdj boot has foggy print.I'm guessing the original may have clear, defined print?. Got this VERY cheap from ebay last year. Nashville Matrix. Was never sure about what shade of green/yellow etc were proper 1st issues so felt safe buying the WDJ!
Anoraks Corner Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 (edited) Thanks for posting that Roger. I don't think you see this format at all compared to Festival or Hungry. I wonder if Dave Moore has it too, or anyone else? I also always had this one down as a tough WD...so you can imagine the grin on my face when I found this one whilst out digging in amongst all the R'n'B bits?! Guest martyn Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 A and "B" sides By far the best version of Right Direction
Marc Forrest Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Hety Marc, Pretty sure that's mine! Have to dig it out to confirm! Unless you have one exactly the same? Regards, Dave Hiya Dave, might well be a scan of your copy. I have it in a file on my computer entitled "WD`s" . Might have have taken it off ebay or such place years ago. Hope you don`t mind. Same goes for Gwen Owens, mine is a issue. Another contender for a rare WD might also be Al Williams " I am Nth." L Beat. Sorry, I can`t scan mine but as its water damaged it aint completely white anymore anyway LOL. Marc

Palmer for me at the minute. I'd like a nice La Beat WDJ though. The hunt goes on! Regards, Dave
Hammie Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Had a stone minter of TONY CLARKE off John Anderson in the 70,s. It really did look a treat with the silver embossed chess logo all over the label. Unfortunately I sold that copy, but have recently (2 years ago) acquired another but in only VG condition oh hum!!! I have a lovely WEST COAST demo of JOHNNY HOWARD on BASHIE ....I dont think you see many of these. And a Bashie WD of the VISITORS which I think is pretty rare.
Premium Stuff Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 Don't see too many of these around come to think of it Not the rarest WDJ by a long way but a very nice one Cheers Richard
Hammie Posted October 16, 2010 Posted October 16, 2010 That CODY BLACK WD looks great I would say its a lot rarer than more expensive desirable promo's. I have a dark blue and silver first issue vinyl promo of CODY BLACK which you also dont often see. Have just won on Ebay today a WEST COAST WHITE PROMO of BARBARA MILLS on HICKORY for the massive sum of $23-00 dollars... I dont think a lot of people know how rare this is !!!!!
Louise Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 (edited) I 've just put a sales list up on soul source including a copy of the Masquraders "A Family" on a Tower white demo, can't remember seeing too many of these. Dave Edited October 17, 2010 by Louise

Prophonics 2029 Posted October 17, 2010 Posted October 17, 2010 Not super rare but is this one a bit harder.
Dolly13 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 I believe this to be very rare, only ever seen 2 copies one in Detroit and one over here, anyone on here got one. I have 2 copies, one on a issue, and the white demo. Dolly:thumbsup:

Dave Thorley Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 Again, not the ROR but hard to find W/D
Dave Thorley Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 (edited) One more to think about. Over the years I've trawled though thousands of De-Lite 45's, but as a percentage rarely see W/D's, anyone got one of 'Dreaming a dream' Edited October 18, 2010 by Dave Thorley
Anoraks Corner Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 One more to think about. Over the years I've trawled though thousands of De-Lite 45's, but as a percentage rarely see W/D's, anyone got one of 'Dreaming a dream' I see the occasional De-Lite white (and black) US demo over here...and if I'm lucky I may also see another one of these one day
Dave Thorley Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 I see the occasional De-Lite white (and black) US demo over here...and if I'm lucky I may also see another one of these one day Now then, if you ever see another of these you've got a buyer.
Wiganer1 Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Again, not the ROR but hard to find W/D ========= i played this at six hills recently - never seen a white demo b4!!
Marc Forrest Posted October 18, 2010 Posted October 18, 2010 Again, not the ROR but hard to find W/D what a cool design really.
Dave Thorley Posted October 18, 2010 Author Posted October 18, 2010 It was a Bob Catteneo and Harold Andrews project out of San Fransisco. Was un-sucessful locally, but then a few years later a lot of the un-sold stock came to the UK, but non of the demo's as these had all been sent out to local DJ's etc in SF. Now days it's only £15-20 record, but as others say a great overlooked tune I got this from an old DJ that had been in SF. Freddie Hughes - Take me as I am -
Johnmcc Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Ted, The label says "only loaned out". Can I have the address of your library?
Johnmcc Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Not super rare but is this one a bit harder. Nice in the company sleeve. Here's another one.
Dave Thorley Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 Another one of those not easy to find one's
Anoraks Corner Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Nice in the company sleeve. Is that the correct period sleeve for that release number?
Johnmcc Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) Is that the correct period sleeve for that release number? I am not sure. (It's the one it came in.) If not and anyone has a contemporaneous cover, please get in touch. Edited October 19, 2010 by johnmcc
Marc Forrest Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I would think so. I can`t think of a later design at present but do remember the older design which had class written in a vertical direction. Marc
