Andy Rix Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 This probably doesn't quite qualify as issues are harder but in this format it's unusual Andy
Andy Rix Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 This used to be a tough one ... not so sure if it's still as hard to find Andy
Tricky Posted October 11, 2010 Posted October 11, 2010 Dave.Am i right in thinking the Brewster Crew demos have a white label stuck over the issue?.

Prophonics 2029 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Hi Chalks How are you Mate. Agree but was think demo's over issues ie Dave Love below, although it is very hard to sell. That strange, JM said that there was only 50 demo's of this made but yours looks different from mine Dave, I am sure I have molded paper and bolder font? or you have bolder font on the Promotion copy logo. Edited October 12, 2010 by Prophonics 2029
Prophonics 2029 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Just noticed my copy says 4 souls and your copy says 3 souls music???????
45cellar Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Not a White DEMO the first one I know, but some of the easiest on a Stock Copy have a near Impossible DEMO for some reason. Price doesn't reflect RARITY sometimes. 1
De-to Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 a crap record but how about dickie and the ebbtides on golden world number 45,rare enough on an issue...
45cellar Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 a crap record but how about dickie and the ebbtides on golden world number 45,rare enough on an issue... Don't think I've ever seen a DEMO of one, not even a Scan.
De-to Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Don't think I've ever seen a DEMO of one, not even a Scan. roger, ive got this on the pre golden world label "fleetwood" but sadly like most people i have no golden world 45 of it,!!!
Dave Thorley Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) That strange, JM said that there was only 50 demo's of this made but yours looks different from mine Dave, I am sure I have molded paper and bolder font? or you have bolder font on the Promotion copy logo. They mis-printed the label pt1 and pt2, flip yours over. I got 4 copies from one of the late owners wives. Maybe it took another brother to come up with the instrumental:D Edited October 12, 2010 by Dave Thorley
Dave Moore Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Maybe not the rarest but here are a few are nice and easy on stock issue that took me a while to locate as WDJs: Harold Andrews - Since I Talk To My Baby - HLS Johnny Sales - My Loves A Monster Baby - Chi Town The Sunliners - All Alone - Golden World Whispers - Where Have You Been - Roker And one I still haven't got: Belita Woods - Magic Corner - Karen 106 Regards, Dave

Dave Love W/D OK, I take all that back, I've just found my copy. It has 'Three Souls Music' on both sides and has a 'Bell Sound' stamp in the run out groove So the mystery thickens, was it in fact pressed twice. Does yours have a 'Bell Sound' stamp ? It is possible that it was pressed twice, as the label was jointly own by Johnny Worlds (Worlds Records, New York) & Al Holiday (Steeltown Records, Phittsburgh). It is possible that they both had copies pressed local to them. It would be interesting to hear John's thoughts on this. Edited October 12, 2010 by Dave Thorley
Prophonics 2029 Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 A Bell Sound then a strange Greek like symbol SF S-2004 or 5 hash sign 722-a or b son. seen so many issues on Ebay as well.

Tricky Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Another toughie on White Demo IMO is Cody Black on Rambrock.West Coast pressing.Anybody know what colour the west coast issue is?
Dave Thorley Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) think J J BARNES-PLEASE LET ME IN is a tough one Dave Agree, also believe that San Remo Strings and Laura Lee are hard to find. Velgo, just a thought, if they did W/D of Gwen Owens, wonder if they did one for Two plus Two ? Edited October 12, 2010 by Dave Thorley
Anoraks Corner Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Well, apart from those already mentioned and the following well-documented tough WD's - Magnetics (WIWMB), Precisions (SAS), Junior McCants (TMFYNL), Jesse Davis (TRFM), Tony Clarke (LS), John Bowie (YGMAGT), Herman Lewis (WKYT) and Eddie Parker (LYB), I'd also like to offer up the following which are very, very tough to find as WD's...but do exist: Gene Woodbury - Ever Again - Del Val Falcons - I'm A Fool I Must Love You - Big Wheel Del Larks - Out Of The In Crowd - Jet Willie Johnson - I Can't See Myself - Future Stars (feat. both sides, but more on the Deep than Northern side of Soul) If you want to spread the net wider to include non-US releases, well I've got some Japnese WDs that would knock you off your feet...another time, another thread maybe! 1
Dave Moore Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Falcons - I'm A Fool I Must Love You - Big Wheel Damn your eyes Mr Flynn! I'd almost struck this off the wants list as I've never seen one or know anyone who has one. It always made sense that it would exist though. Anyone got a copy or a scan? Best, Dave
Cunnie Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Rarest white demo as far as I'm concerned is 'Shock Horror' a 12" copy of King Tutt. Relatively common on a 12" issue as there are at least 1/2 a dozen known :-)) but this is the only 12" W/D that I know of apart from the alleged badly warped copy in London that no one's ever seen. God I want that lump of 12" vinyl so so badly. Also throws up the question as to wether 7" King Tutt Fun City W/D's exist as never seen or heard of one.
Guest gordon russell Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 gwen owens wanted & needed this is a tough one how rare is it yep rare as............what about the aeroplane song.......thats a rare un......mind you never seen an issue does it exist?

Gilly Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Dave what about one you used to play at Stafford and lucky me managed to obtain a copy,Rat Race.white label, hand written,he told me only 5 ever made.
Ian Parker Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Velgo, just a thought, if they did W/D of Gwen Owens, wonder if they did one for Two plus Two ? Mick H has a 'just say you're wanted' W/D, aint seen another, probably not likely to either.
Chalky Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 have seen a tony clarke white demo with white chess pieces embosed all over the label.....gotta be rare that one If I remember rightly Steve Smith had a white demo of Tony Clarke, seen a couple go through ebay. Here's a scan from Benji's site, thought I had a better scan of one of 'em but can't find it on the PC.
Dave Thorley Posted October 12, 2010 Author Posted October 12, 2010 Dave what about one you used to play at Stafford and lucky me managed to obtain a copy,Rat Race.white label, hand written,he told me only 5 ever made. Hi Gilly Hope you two are in rude health. Yes he told me the same, dear old Gino he tried to sell me a cracked copy for $500, bless him
Trev Thomas Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 how about the perigents "love on a rampage" only ever seen the one wd copy, that belonged to dave greet
Dazdakin Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 Would it be reasonable to assume lets say that we only know of issues for any record dont matter what, that there would be demo's of that record floating around. I can get my head around it being the other way around - only demo's known, then there would be a good chance of only demo's ever being cut, but to my way of thinking if there are issues then there has to be demo's. Example; Eddie Parkers " I'm Gone" AWAKE white demo?? Obviously not all labels did "white" demo's they just printed "not for sale" or "plug side".......but most did. Just as a side issue, i dont know of any Motown tunes that only reached a demo cut and was never released, they tended to just bin em' before they did anything........has to be a Frank Wilson issue or two knocking about??
