Windlesoul Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) Yeh Harry! Or have I got the fine details wrong?! HUGE scottish tune here in the mid/late 80s! (cross reference thread on the Scottish scene!), blew my tits off Why the query styrene? Harry Yes remember Steve playing this at Shotts and like many others went and spoke to Steve afterwards who confirmed that he had bought it blind based on collecting the label. Steve really appreciated and managed to then get a copy for $320. One of my all time favourites. Mark
Ficklefingers Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Just out of intrest which is rarer issue or demo (probably just the same?) When I spoke to Butch a couple or three years back he said that, although his discovery, his hands have seen three demo's - and was quite surprised seeing my copy (above post) and said he didn't realise it was issued and had never previously seen one !! S'far as I'm aware mine is the only 'known' issue..
Ted Massey Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Remember the night Steve walls uncovered it at Shotts allnighter, Butch was playing and announced it as Magictones and Steve went and whispered in his ear when the record had finish it was the Devotions, if i remember correctly Steve was collected the label and had bought it blind! Harry I was told he got it of Soul Bowls general soul sales section for £6
Bob Posted October 10, 2010 Posted October 10, 2010 Just out of intrest which is rarer issue or demo (probably just the same?) I think the issue must be a lot rarer than the demo. I have seen a few demo's but the issue that Fingers has is a first for me.

Totally freaked out when played it, he knew it was a current sound but couldn't put his finger on it. He played it down the phone to me, it was one of my fav Butch tracks and used to request it all the time. Then I freaked out! Thrilled to see the northern scene's capacity to generate weird and wondeful rumours is alive and well (though that's got nothing on the one that had me dead - twice!)

Alan Walls Posted October 12, 2010 Posted October 12, 2010 (edited) Aye, and a wee bit more with-it than the Dead Man Walking of yesterday! Fit's happnin' H? Nae seen ye for ages. btw, yer signature: Rob Marriot's next line was "I 'ad it when you were runnin' round wi' bread an' jam in yer 'and"! I wonder if Andy remembers that exchange?
