Like many of us I watch Ebay regularly and I see some records that sell well time after time. Some start with high auction prices, then drop off fairly quickly, but there are some that sell year after year, never really changing their value. I'm not talking about big ticket rarest of the rare, but those mid priced 'true evergreens', eg

Boddy Sheen - Something new to do, there must be two or three for sale every week on Ebay and they always sell in just about any condition between £30-£80.

Willow Band - Willow man

Ideals/Mighty Lovers - Mighty lover

Garland Green - Ain't thatgood enough

Jo Ann Garrett - Whole new plan

etc, etc, their must be 100's if not 1000's of copies of some of these tunes over here but they keep on selling. What ones have you noticed and I know this may sound an obvious question, but why ??, what make a record a true evergreen ?

Blimey Dave there are 1000s like them that never seem to lose their value, some go up when all of a sudden there is a bit of demand but like you say many jsut stay the same price and probaly will for a good few more years, a few i can think of,

Ruby Andrews £100ish

Denise Lasalle £60ish

Constellations £100ish

Barbara Lynn £50ish

Tyrone Barkley £20ish

Jimmy Robins £15ish

etc etc etc

mainly i reckon cos they are well known and popular classic floor fillers and peeps want to own them and probably up for sale often enough cos after a few years of owning them peeps get bored and move on to newer tunes and the next band of new to the scene soulies buy them up and the cycle continues, i think that cos ive done it and still am doing it, selling my oldies that i first got into the scene enjoying and selling up so i can keep buying tunes new to me, in a way its a steady and safe way of buying tunes if they defo have resale value i suppose

See what your saying, but I think some records stay as keepers with most people. So they come over here and stay in peoples collections, quality records that most people don't get feed up with, that's why they keep on selling. Price does have something to do with it, didn't cost that much to buy and I wouldn't get much or any more for it if I sell it, so it's a keeper.
