macca Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 am I right in thinking this was an unreleased track and only exists on a studio acetate owned or formerly owned by richard searling?
John Benson Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Other than the Herman Hitson CD which came out a few years back - but wasn't there also a slightly different version knocking about as well?
Harry Crosby Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Other than the Herman Hitson CD which came out a few years back - but wasn't there also a slightly different version knocking about as well? Now this is where i get confused john, is there a version by NATE ADAMS?
Harry Crosby Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) nate adams - love slipped through my fingers - herman hitson - love slipped thru my fingers - Or are these the same thing? Edited October 2, 2010 by SONBERT
Trev Thomas Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 the one that searling used to play was an atlantic acetate by nate adams, he covered it up as hermon hitson, there is also an unreleased version by hermon hitson which is available on a cd

hullsoul Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Coincidence, I've got a tape of that exact same night and exact same spot from Richard! Pete Think I might have of sent you it???? My mate did the recoding (Paul Woods), he was a big mate of Richards & was on stage when he was doing it, hence the great quality. Just feels strange to know I was there when it was done. Love the history bit about John & The Weirdest. Cheers Martyn
macca Posted October 4, 2010 Author Posted October 4, 2010 And you very kindly did one for me too Martyn. Loads of other great stuff on it too. I've just had a listen to the HH cd version. Nate Adams has the edge in my opinion with that anguished 'lonely, lonely man I am' bit at the intro...

You can tell it's this recording because of the really strong Black Country accents picked up on the tape

Until this thread, obviously.
Pete S Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 By the way, I'm just uploading a tape from the Casino 7th anniversary which features this track, should be ready in half an hour

Pete S Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 The Herman Hitson is on here... https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/30748 I keep getting asked to put more live tapes up so here's an absolute belter from the Casino's 7th anniversary on 25th September 1980. This tape is in fantastic quality but it also allows you to hear the atmosphere which is the whole point of these live recordings. The quality dips as it nears the end but please enjoy a tremendous Richard Searling spot, a Keith Minshull oldies spot and a short excerpt from Gary Rushbrooke's spot.

Macca Must admit lost track of how many people I've done it for...........one on the way to the States as I write RS playlist from that night still stands up today imo. Cheers Martyn
