Guest Andy Kempster Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 Kev , I've just bid on 1 - 45 and like the muppet I am didn't check the postage which is $32.00 robbing barstewards !!!! Swifty I fell into this trap this week on one 45 from the US, they tried to charge mem $26 when i have never paid any more than $7/$8 max in the past have queried it and hopefully will get a reduction, otherwise i guess i shall have to bite the bullet and pay through the nose and learn my lesson to read despcription fully in the future....real shame is it will turn a bargain record into a rip off record:angry2:
Guest Mark Holmes Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 They only do Air Mail from the US according to the feallah in my Post Office. There are a couple of levels of service Priority is the most expensive and gets there faster First Class is cheaper and takes a couple of days longer There are additional charges for signed for / confirmed delivery / Insured so look for those key words. I have found that first class does the trick every time. I do think that if you are working with a person who deals with records all the time they may pass on the cost of the professional mailers as part of the postage.
Guest turntableterra Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 i posted a couple of days ago about a guy who hadnt posted to asia pacific region from america before. he had charged me 10 dollars postage on a record, which i was ok with considering some of the charges. thi i got an email from him saying " i just went to the post office and they only charged me $4. 50 to send the record so i am refunding you 5 dollars." well as you can imagine i fell over sideways into a bucket of sick and came out dry with a buch of roses. sadly it still takes two weeks to get here then john manship posts a record on friday, similar costs and it gets here monday ............. go figure we should start a campaign against the robbers...........but will it work (ref how many packages do you get a week.............we are just addicts)
