NEV Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Hi all I am in the process of buying a expensive record from USA, but need to help the seller to find the best way to send a record to UK, without declaring full amount ,but in a way that gives him security incase of loss?? Is there a service that allows a seller to fully insure without having to declare value on the customs notice? Fire away and sharpish if you dont mind please

Jumpinjoan Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 He can get it sent so's it must be signed for but can put any value on it that he wants... But doesn't that mean it would only be insured for that amount if it went missing?
MikeHinNewJersey Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 You're best bet is probably to take a look here USPS International Shipping

Fire away and sharpish if you dont mind please I once managed to insure a record global express USPS and get it past the office with a low customs. I imagine if a claim actually had come up it might be an issue. Maybe sending UPS or DHL or FedEx would allow avoiding customs?
Guest audiavant Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Not totally sure, but I think that the idea is that insurance-wise nobody should make a profit from a loss.I guess if there is any shipping/delivery problems thats when you may encounter difficulties.
NEV Posted September 21, 2010 Author Posted September 21, 2010 Thanks all, for your replies The guy settled for global express with low value so i think /hope we are now sorted:thumbsup:

Those that dont have a customs sticker on it usually have a maximum value for Compensation in the same way as we have recorded delivery which is £41- Fingers crossed it dont come cracked NEV!
