dthedrug Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 HI AL THE BEST FIND AT A CARBOOT, WAS NOT MY FIND BUT MY PARTNER MARIE, WHILE I WAS DASHING ABOUT LOOKING FOR DUSTYS SHE WAS DOING HER THING, AT THE END WHEN WE MET UP SHE HAD 4 SINGLES, 2 BY THE THIRD GUITAR- SAD GIRL, WHICH IS REALY NICE AND "BABY DONT CRY", TALK ABOUT LUCK! I SOLD THE LATER FOR £100 AND I KEPT THE SAD GIRL STILL GOT IT, THE PROBLEM IS AFTER A FIND LIKE THAT, DID I MUG MYSELF, THIS WAS AT ESSINGTON CARBOOT WHERE I HAVE FOUND LOTS OF RARE UK IN THE PAST. WHATS THE CURRENT VALUE ON THE 2 ROJAC SINGLES DAYS AND ANY ONE WANT THE 3RD GUITAR WILL TRADE FOR UK?? DAVE
Thecivilservice Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Once found a Bobby Wilburn issue on Gamble in a charity shop for 40p
Pete S Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Rarest thing I ever found at a boot sale was the Tintern Abbey single on Deram, I knew it was rare but this was pre-price guides, that kind gent Mick Smith relieved me of it for something like £20. It's currently worth a grand. Found a Frankie & Johnny on Decca on the exact same stall 2 weeks later, that was a quid, no centre but was fine. I got the Artwoods LP for 50p from another boot sale in St leonards, wow that was a long time ago, 1989 or 90, same day I got the Julians Treatment LP on Youngblood. Got a Downliners Sect LP about 4 years ago. Got a Guitar Ray on Shagg out of a shop in Dudley for 30p three years ago. Sadly I can't remember the last time I found anything decent at a boot sale, probably because I'm too f*cking lazy to get out of bed on a saturday or sunday morning.
dthedrug Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Hi All ...I don't know if I have mentioned this before, probably have, but in the mid 7ts i did a bit of roadying, at the same time like most of us I used to trawl the record shops, In Letchworth there was and still is DAVIDS Bookshop, where i had loads of records from going back to 1970, as usual the staff used to put away records for me to look through on a Thursday? anyway a bloke who lived in one of the bedsit called CHARLIE FROST went in the shop on a Wednesday chatted the girl up so he could look through the latest bunch of 45s And yes I have told this story before,in the pile of 45s there was a Hoagy Lands "Next in Line" STATESIDE DEMO, He would not let me have it even though he told the assistant it was for me!! what a SKANKER! it still haunts me today, so if any one out there is still in-contact with CHARLIE FROST you have my permission to take the record of him, apart from that he was a decent bloke, Fin tea leaf:ph34r: DAVE KIL
paultp Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 I have to say I cannot be bothered to look through records at car boots, it just takes too long and 99.99% are just rubbish. I know showaddywaddy got to number one but I didn't realise how many single sales that took in the 70's. These days I look for family bibles (ones with family trees in) or interesting personal papers/diaries/books etc. They are easier to spot and so don't take up as much time.
