Citizen P Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 After all he started the trend Nah, surely it's all down to DustBin for starting 'tallneeters in Wigan.... T

But hey lets not the facts the in the way of a good argument. Well, as you can see, I did finish off with a smiley, it was meant as a bit of fun rather than an argument
Mark S Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 After all he started the trend OUATIW was for me an exellent albeit lighthearted interpretation of that time in my life I saw it at the contact and loved it . The Octagon version didnt make it and fell well short of the mark as I suspect Soulboy and other attempts to will . I have never seen a decent documentary , the Trevor nelson thing was cringeworthy and this England just said its grim up north and had a folk music as background ffs . But Dave your right of course its all Pauls fault Stone him :D

Ian Dury. Once Upon a Time is the only one I've bothered seeing so far. Attention to detail seeming to be the main ingredient lacking..

Paul-s Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) After all he started the trend Hey as usual, facts are wrong Dave. There was a play in 80s and a tv film. But still, did my play 7 years ago, so bit of a f---king slow trend. But to say that the first (wasn't me) person to make a play about Wigan is responsible for the shite or good ones coming out now, would be like saying the first person to put a nighter or soul night on is responsible for the shite/good ones now! Its the maker of the play or promoter of the night, who is responsible for quality not the creator of the format. But jealousy runs deep, so enjoy. You started a trend for banality and it seems its catching on too. Best P Edited September 5, 2010 by paul-s

I went to that to. In a tiny place. It was made into a bbc2 play to wasn't it. Can't remember what it was called though
harpo1 Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I've been going out 'n' playing up for years. Lets be honest here, if someone came up with a storyline that simply mentioned the regular adventures and situations we find ourselves in week in week out, it would be turned down as a work of pure fantasy, beyond belief....best we continue our soul journey with like minded people, how many instances have we had over time when commerciality has been a bane on the scene. Personally i see enough people dancing week in week out, simply geting down to the music, all that coreographed dance stuff is bollocks. Just let the music and its unique feelings get you on the floor. The only thing on the telly in our house is a picture of the cat!!!!!

Best P Well said,And Iam in total agreement with you, John Wayne and Errol Flynn never won the war but they made it fun,and entertaining, A few plays ,Loads of books,Hundred's of c d 's thrown into the mix do not a bad story make, Let those without sin cast the first stone

Dave Rimmer Posted September 6, 2010 Author Posted September 6, 2010 It was only meant as a bit of fun, and people have gone all serious on it, so I'm going to lock the thread
