Guest soulwaxusa Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Maxine sometimes plays gigs here in NYC at a small club in Harlem with a jazz/funk band. We went to see her a few months ago. She sat with us at our table for over an hour. What a beautiful woman! At one point she started singing to me Anthing For a Laugh at the table inbetween sets. Made my hair on my arms stand up! She related a story about how when she went to Muscle Shoals and was being produced by Otis Redding (Baby Cakes). She would stay in the motel while Otis would fly out on his private plane to do gigs. She said that one day Otis comes into her room with a horn player who starts yelling at him about how he's going to get everyone killed unless he gets that damned plane fixed up. Of course a few weeks later we all know what happened.
