Pete S Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 Wasn't sure where to put this. Does anyone know where you can get decent retro clothing from. Kind of skinhead/suedehead style 1970-71. I've seen a few sites on the net and they just seem to sell new Harringtons and Fred perrys. I'm after a decent 'mod' style jacket to wear with a polo shirt and jeans maybe. Or do they still make sta-prest, cream or olive. Proper vintage shirts. If anyone knows where I can get this stuff or have cast offs they want to sell (or donate!) could they drop me a line. Am asking here because I like these sort of clothes, always have, and don't know any shops to buy them from. Kind of like what Terry hall is wearing in this picture of the Specials. n.b. I know I couild probably get all this stuff off the peg in Brighton.
Supercorsa Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 I was in Brighton yesterday, you could try Jump The Gun. >>link<<

Pete S Posted September 2, 2010 Author Posted September 2, 2010 https://www.stuartslondon.com Thanks for the link reg. £45 for a Brutus shirt. Last time I bought one I think it was 7.99
Guest Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 You could try trim fit at leeds run by Lilly she does some very nice skinhead shirts and all are hand made by her. https://www.trimfituk.co.uk/ also try Britac https://www.britac.net/shop/britacinfo.php and Brutus https://www.britac.net/shop/britacinfo.php
Guest MBarrett Posted September 2, 2010 Posted September 2, 2010 (edited) It's funny - when Brutus shirts first came out in the 60's we thought they were a bit cheap and nasty because they were made in Hong Kong. Now they use it as a positive selling point. I'm still tempted to shell out and buy one. MB Edited September 3, 2010 by MBarrett

Reg Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 Thanks, will do Forgot, Lee on here has a site called Mohair Sam...vintage mod type clobber:thumbsup: https://www.mohairsam.com/ . I do find that most of the vintage mens stuff tends to be of better/more authentic quality. It's so much more difficult finding (decent) ladies vintage or vintage style clothes. I totally struggle as I hate modern womens' clothes.. Try and find an original 60s vintage dress on ebay and you're more likely to get something that wouldn't look out of place on Margo from the Good Life or Yootha Joyce:lol:
Sutty Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 (edited) Drop Simon a PM Pete, he's a partner in Immediate Clothing on Sydney St in Brighton and specializes in original vintage/retro 60's clothing. Jump The Gun on gardner st is the mod shop, Simon's not involved in that and they sell newly made look-a-like clothing not vintage. Got a fantastic full length original 70's heavy leather full-length trenchcoat in amazing condition here if you want to look like someone standing outside the casino in 1975 cheers Paul Edited September 3, 2010 by Sutty
