Pete S Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 A fantastic tape from Wigan Casino's second anniversary recorded by my good friend John Hillman. This features a relatively rare recording of Alan Rhodes during his first tenure as a Casino DJ, followed by an incredible spot by John Vincent who certainly gets the place going with his 100mph verballing...just listen to his introduction of "The Champion", one of my all time favourite Wigan moments. Plus you also get the community clapping during the silent break in The Jewels "We Got Togetherness", and one of the Wolverhampton lads describing Jon Ford's version "You Got Me Where You Want Me" as a 'wank version'. Quality is lo-fi from a portable cassette recorder, that won't stop you enjoying this cracking slice of Northern Soul history though (previously posted a couple of years back when I used Podbean). Tracks include Liberty, Frankie Crocker, Skullsnaps, Anderson Brothers, Tamiko Jones, Evelyn Thomas.. https://podcastmachine.com/podcasts/4425/episodes/28847
Mrtag Posted September 3, 2010 Posted September 3, 2010 nice one mate Brilliant Pete! just listening to the Jewels again has got to be a challenger for the fastest 45 thread on here!
