Guest Leonardo Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 Didn't know this had been released in Belgium!, so my question is...Is the Belgian Decca release rarer than the UK one? Thanks, Jules56
Ian Posted August 30, 2010 Posted August 30, 2010 (edited) You never can tell on the Euro issues vs UK, can be rarer than UK issues but never seem to have the same demand with collectors Edited August 30, 2010 by Ian

Not seen one before so at least I know what one looks like now. What sort of value would you put on one (given your comment about demand)? Reagrds, Jules56

Most of them must be much rarer than their usa or uk counterparts. Its just one of them odd collecting things. They were always produced on vinyl but mostly dubbed from the original usa 45s - like the uk red atlantics there can be the quality issue collectors usually prefer the usa discs IMO If I was going to sell this 45 I would probably be thinking about 100 ukp but I would in reality put it in my collection because its a fantastic oldie and a great record ! Mrtag Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I see what your saying but it seems crazy £100 for the one you've got which was probabley pressed in small quantities and yet a black Hickory US release pressed in quantity £225/250 Weird.
Pete S Posted September 1, 2010 Posted September 1, 2010 I've had that Belgian one and it sure is rare, think I got £200 for it and that was 5 years ago. I know Mick has found these at Utrecht as well. I had a Belgian "She blew a good thing" (American Poets) earlier this year, same design as this Frankie & Johnny but on London, could only get £20 for it! Never even knew it existed before.
Chris L Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 You never can tell on the Euro issues vs UK, can be rarer than UK issues but never seem to have the same demand with collectors There's a decent Belgian DJ - Thierry Boulanger he plays Belgian releases, meethinks he has PP Arnold on a Belgian release
Tlscapital Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 So yes it's one of the rarest format (try to popsike it, it's not even featured !) for Frankie & Johnny. As far as I know at least. And indeed, many belgian record dealers (not northern soul ones) are seeking it to deal it. I isuppose that if no Belgian dealers have sold it on ebay, the case might be that they went straight to the collectors or brit dealers such as Mick SMITH. Who then sold them to the odd release collectors. It took me ages to pick one up. It's a well known rarity even for the Belgian collectors and dealers alike. Thierry BOULANGER is a belgian "modern soul" enthousiast and I doubt the fact that he might be into belgian releases as such (sorry Chris L). Tim Didn't know this had been released in Belgium!, so my question is...Is the Belgian Decca release rarer than the UK one? Thanks, Jules56
