Guest posstot Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 (edited) just going to try one scan here... No Longy, you were right, i'm hopeless....i mean look at that for a proffessional looking scan....C-. Michael must try harder...the application is there, however doesn't seem interested in finishing anything he starts. Edited September 5, 2010 by posstot
Guest posstot Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Right then, let's try again; A classic oldie. and what a belter.....what i would call out and out Dancefloor Northern soul... Billy Dawn...the scan shows the up tempo dancer. A quality pleeder with strong lady backing....Popcorn? maybe. big production early soul music... yes. The flip is a real quality moody slow to mid-tempo plodder that ooozes quality, with the girls adding that zest on the backing vocals again. Chuck Payne here is a mind blowing big city romancer. on the upper reaches of mid tempo it also leans itself well to the dancefloor. some nice guitar work fills, but has all the orchestra charging the emotion of the song giving it strength and longevity, and after owning it for a couple of years i never seem to tire of playing it. The Flip on this one is also a beautiful track, which i have only played a couple of times..which is unusual for me, Longy pointed it out to me...after i put him onto this...criminally i hadn't played the flip, which is normally the first thing i do. A powerhouse production of kettle drums horns and violins with breaks in all the right places...lyrically a little 'teeny' but the orchestra pushes the Soul of the disc to the fore...along with terris' vocal similar in clarity to that of Ernestine Andersons' you're not the guy for me. BRILLIANT Rick Lovejoy....wow wee i wanna pee. This is one of my favourite double siders. The scanned side being the 'northern' dancer and the flip; "Don't leave me behind" being the mid tempo dancer with that bit more mood attached. I know of only 3 copies....Myself and Denbo and some chap on'tinternet who posted it up.(anyone else out there?). Produced by Johnny Pate quality is without question...But two quite different sides both playable depending on your mood, both very pleasing on the soul. Del vikings...A very underated side this....a powerful early soulful dancer, a group vocal with a real dancefloor tempo made this a real winner for me. Everybody seems to side on the, "the bring back you heart track" by this mixed race vocal group, yet for me this is better, by far. I just absolutely love this, and all of you should too. On a par with the likes of, the Drifter....Its a sad thing...long after tonight is all over...i cried my life away and tracks of that ilk. Storybook lyrics and all the trimmings from the orchestra make this a chistmas dinner of production and vocal. In comparrison to a ham roast.(mmmm can you tell its sunday and i have other things on my mind) a known record very under appriciated....10/10. LLoyd Price to many a northern fan is just another version of Love Music. Yet this RnB legend...writer producer..label owner...performer...Knocked my socks off when i first heard this...It is a Sassy bluesy and very Soulful dancer upper mid tempo dancer with a bouncy infectious rhythm section and the girly backing adding the moir!! factor. just brill. on a nice british hmv release too. Another popcorn outing to many. A big city soul group dancer with a real nice uplifting mid to up tempo rhythm...quite well known just not appreciated enough for me. OOOOh everthing i mentioned before about Buddy Lamp applies here also. Absolutely nothing to do with Blue Peter. This is without doubt an absolute cracker. Bought it this year and somewhat discarded it for a while, recently started playing it and a thouroughly enjoying the disc....can't quite work out how much of an insult the title line is just yet within the song...More big city but with that quirky..Popcorn? feel. hooooooooooooo wwwwweeeeeeee. A fantastically uplifting rnb dancer...plucky guitar wokin between the rhythm and the vocal...nice breaks and clapalong sections would make this a winner on most RnB/mod nights....infact with willing dancers could potentially blow the roof offa the place. Now saving the weird and wonderful until last....Hopefully starting a stampede of interest on the strength of this record and considerring the artist too. Yes it's that Conway Twitty (thats twitty, not twatty). It bounds into your ears or onto the dancefloor for a scream to start, then the bass, drums and guitar with the odd shake of the tambourine persuade your brain you should be dancing. Then as if to authenticate the track more Conway also tries a little call and response with a female(black) vocalist about a quarter of the way through...which knocks my socks off, leaving me feeling proud of the Job the Twit has done. White country boys can't do RnB/soul.......oh by fook they can. You can hear this track at the Hideaway on the 25th of September....Not it's premeire as Longy pinched that at the Rhythm shack last month(bastard), after me putting nim onto it as well. Oh but it sounded brill...i can imagine the Crowed at the Hideaway loving this track....i bloody hope so, cause they're gonna get it. So there you are, some of my more obscure abc recordings. da daaaarrrr!

45cellar Posted September 20, 2010 Author Posted September 20, 2010 i think i read in Theres That Beat in the George Kerr article that this came out first as "Love Explosion" without the "s" on the end..is that right? it came out twice in the U.K. on Stateside & was "LOVE EXPLOSION" on the SS-2149 Copy. Not sure in the U.S.A.
Steve G Posted September 20, 2010 Posted September 20, 2010 Does this include the music publishers actate of it, if not the person I sold it to is on here so it's up to him to shout up. Dave Dave I think the acetate only contains the side "Ordinarily". The other two known copies are both issues, probably never demo'd.
Prophonics 2029 Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Not sure if this is up yet or even the sleeve.
