The Capitols Lp On Atco, Not Atlantic. My Mistake

just rushed over to a book and record sale on my lunch break. I found The Capitols We Got A Thing Thats In The Groove LP on Atlantic.. In the corner it says its their "karen series" so is this a 2nd issue? Did it come out on Karen first? I know several of the tunes came out on Karen as singles, but what about this LP? I payed a dollar for it so it was well worth it, just wondering if its a 2nd issue. .. Anyone? Thanks, jacob

Where as the singles where all released on Karen

Cool Jerk / Hello Stranger (Karen 1524) (1966)

Zig Zaggin' / I Got To Handle It (Karen 1525) (1966)

We Got A Thing That's In The Groove / Tired Of Runnin' From You (Karen 1526) (1966)

Take A Chance On Me Baby / Patty Cake (Karen 1534) (1967)

Cool Pearl / Don't Say Maybe Baby (Karen 1536) (1967)

Afro Twist / Cool Jerk '68 (Karen 1537) (1968)

Ain't That Terrible / Soul Sister, Soul Brother (Karen 1543) (1968)

I belive the Ataltic Release is the the second Issue, I thorght is was the uk release, but after thinking about it I might of seen us issues on ebay

Please feel free to correct me, as the capitols is my new project collecting wise

after reading your reply it was my mistake, mine is ATCO, i just seem to think of atco and atlantic together no matter which label. Sorry, and thanks for the reply!

yep, thats the one. My next question was going to be where there ANY albums on karen? Or was it all singles. The "karen series" made me wonder if it was a karen album that got picked up by atco, but that maybe there indeed were copies ON karen.

No LPs by the Capitols on Karen that I have ever seen

The Deon Jackson LP is also on Atco - it says "Carla record series" on the cover.

Original lps in my book.

They were released on Atco because of Ollie Mclaughlins deal with Atlantic.

Ive got a Capitols compilation LP on Solid Smoke somewhere. Got some good previously unissued tracks on it including a version of Bobby Moore's Chained to your Heart. I've been meaning to try and dig it out. (My records get reorganised----but not by me!)

I think I have that album too (or at least I used to have it), doesn't it have "let it all reach out"? Credited to the Four Pros on 45.
