Hi all.Why has it taken me five hits on ebay to get Alicia myers,I want to thank you and Hiroshima,never ever.Demand or rarity?Sevens not 12,s bye the way.Regards Tim.

Alicia is easy to find and cheap as chips - look at Gemm, there's loads of them. Hiroshima a little more difficult, but should be cheap when you find one.

Good to see you in Brussels. Agree on the Alicia Myers, but the Hiroshima has always been hard to get, anywhere between £25-£50. Popular tune back in the day at Stafford, but otherwise still only really know to collectors. It's a stunner.

Would certainly second that, which is in keeping with the above posts. Hiroshima is a beautiful soulful offering and rarely mentioned should we be talking about the 45 entitled Never, Ever on Arista.

As for the Alicia Myers gospel inspired I Want to Thank You 45, was this not the B side to her uk 45 of I Appreciate, which both tracks being lifted from her album, which also gained a uk release. Working from memory, so should not shell out more than a uk £5 for the 45.

One of the harder Arista releases, much harder to find than say, Mandrill - Too late, which pops up on ebay nearly every week, but still sell for £40-£60. By that measurement Hirosihima should be £100 +

would agree with you on the harder release fact, but why did major label companies, dis - encourage greater first time bands, offering them a package to release lesser than the norm product released material. And as we know these bigger labeled companies had a rich pedigree in artists and income.

Thank god I purchased a copy many years ago off Mike Godfrey for £5 having refused to pay £10 off that Mr Cherry Hinton (Max Rees) was wanting......

Dave your measuring stick is now correct £100 plus and growing .

While Alicia Myers is very easy to find on UK 45 it's appreciably more difficult on the first US 45. It was not released on a 45 first time around and snuck out as the reverse of the US 45 of 'Here's The Ticket' from the 'I Fooled You This Time' LP. It was then subsequently released as the US b-side to "You Get The Best From Me" from the Appreciation album a couple of years later. It's also on the reverse of the US 12" of YGTBFM.

Still shouldn't be expensive in any way: under ten quid probably.

'Here's The Ticket' itself is a wonderful record too. What a great production sound her records had. I've stated here before that this was probably the last stand of real Detroit Soul on a major label.

Not been to N.Y. in a few years, but there used to be a few nice little shops down in the village and still a few out in the boro's. Also have a friend there that always has some nice stuff and he might be able to guide you round a bit. Will PM you with his email.

Hiroshima was one of the first things I played when I came back to the scene in 99.

I was thinking of selling my 45 for £20 as the Lp is so cheap to get but Im glad I didnt now!

Bob at Strider records is helpful and his Dad is just a gem of a man with some nice stories.

Shakey Bob round the corner at house of oldies is very difficult to deal with unless you flass loads of cash. He has an enormous basement but wont let you down there!

Bleeker st records is weird. They have empty racks one week and then full the next. I got nothing whereas Steve Bonden got a Sillouhettes - Not me baby for $1 the month after.

I did get some nice Lps there though.
