Mark Oliver Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) What's you vote on the fastest 45's to be played on the soul scene, a few suggestions below: Some great 45's and proud to say that when I was slightly younger would dance my heart out to so many of these, not so much these days. Who was the drummer on the Kellmac 45's, is it possible to play the drums this fast? If so this would have been great to see! I know the group were made up of Larry Brownlee, Carl Washington and Robert Lewis. Burning Bush - Keeps on burning - Mercury Butlers - She tried to kiss me (all I could do was run) - Liberty Cautions - No other way - Shrine Classics - So glad that I found you - Yan-g COD's - She's fire - Kellmac Colt 45's - Lady lady - Jerry Combinations - Whatcha gonna do - Kellmac Damon Fox - Packin' up - Fairmount Harry Betts - Theme from the Fantastic Plastic Machine - Epic James Lewis & A Case of Tyme - Manifesto - Legend James Wesley Smith - Talkin' 'bout women - Angel Town Jimmy Armstrong - Mystery - Shrine Little Nicky Soul - I wanted to tell you - Shee Little Ron & the Esquires - I found someone - Charade Little Stanley - The Stran - Vance Mystic Moods - Astral Trip - WB Royal Esquires - Ain't gonna run - Prix Sandi Sheldon - Your gonna make me love you - Okeh Triumphs - I'm coming to your rescue - Okeh Ty Karim - You just don't know - Romark Velvets - I gotta find me somebody - 20th Century Velvet Satins - Nothing can compare to you - General American Vondells - Hey girl you've changed - Airtown Any additions? grantdyche Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Gloria-WTF! [/quote Just be reading this topic and "Gloria" by Laura Branigan as been mentioned Never in the memory of man will that record be classed as a NS tune,Euro disco at its best,If people are classing that as Northern Soul, Well it's fucked
Wiggyflat Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 (edited) Laura Brannigan was played back to back with the Redcaps-Never Too Young (Imber Soul Club) Edited August 22, 2010 by wiggyflat
Alan Walls Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 The Chryslers and The Monarchs Band - I Ain't Gonna Lose You is a bonkers mental wig out of a tune. I love it to death but it's just demented, apart from being about 1000mph it's like there's about 2 or 3 different songs rattling away at the same time. I mean The Chryslers AND The Monarchs Band sound like two groups on the one record, no wonder it's a riot! Even the band seem to be bashing out an entirely different backing track. None of it fits properly yet it's still wonderful!
