Guest Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 Lifted from Craig Moerer's newsletter "Sleeves were designed originally to serve as a protective device for records and labels during shipment. In the case of "45" rpm records, however, a device of this nature becomes unnecessary. The raised label area on 45's fully prevents any harmful contact between the grooved surfaces of records during shipment. Paper separators - such as this sheet - are designed to protect record labels during shipment. They have no other useful function and may be discarded at your convenience..." - Sage record care advice circa 1952, from the folks at RCA Victor

Mrtag Posted August 19, 2010 Posted August 19, 2010 I remember my older sister had all her records in wire record racks, all packed in with no sleeves. Mind you, She did leave home in 1962, and went living in Canada.
Guest paup-ine Posted August 21, 2010 Posted August 21, 2010 Remember when you used to pile 6 or 7 records on top of each other on the record player then they would start skidding on the turntable.......so you would put a 3d or later on a 2p piece on the arm of the needle... yes:rolleyes: still got the old dansette! P:)
