Guest Perception Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) Can anyone remember the Casino layout. The guy's in the pub remember it differently from me!! I remember that when you went through the double doors either side of the DJ stand in Mr M's you where in that room that led out on to the Main Hall Balcony. So what i remember is that the dance floor in Mr M's was the same level with the Main Hall Balcony. Anyone remember? I think this was because Station Road main entrance was lower than the top road, which had the street entrance into M's. Edited August 17, 2010 by Perception
Guest chris shaw Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 how about this, the entrance to M's from Millgate
Guest chris shaw Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 Where've you bin... away for 25yrs mate...it's good to be back though.lol
Paul R Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 (edited) That corner by the Mr Ms door on the main room balcony, was the Southport/Ormskirk corner for the first year. Then after the 1st anniversary, when Ms opened we were thrust out.mainly to occupy the far right hand corner of Mr Ms. I was basically a nomad wandering round all night verballing to anyone who would listen:lol: . Some of the crowd with their backs to the stairwell, and the Mr Ms door just to the right of Hilgs(with the beard), from North Wales(RIP). Paul Edited August 17, 2010 by Paul r

Guest POTTERIESPECK Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 the best entrance was through the beachcomber then coming out under the main stage onto the dance floor. very iffy though.
Wayoutgirl Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 I never knew there was a street entrance to Mr Ms untill now you and me both!!
Guest topcatnumpty1 Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 That back entrance was the way into the early session on the saturday night, and the way out on Sun Morning after the 8-10 sessions----The Ship pub just down the road(well it was in 1977!!) T,C
Harry Crosby Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Luckily the york lot used to sit on the left of the stage about ten yards up in m`s, otherwise it was a night mare trying to get to the far end of the room to see anyone once the dancefloor was bouncing

The BEACHCOMBER was a place in itself, when it was open prior to the ALLNIGHTER there were some very, very dodgy folk who got in there, mind you it could be the same after the ALLNIGHTER in there aswell. For those who can remember when you waked down the passage when entering it could be likened to a wall of death as there was shady folk on either side leaning against the walls and eying you up, before the ALLNIGHTER was worst as they knew you would still be carrying your pound notes or pills. Many a folk got rolled in there.

Yes it was a bit crazy in the Beachcomber but a great atmosphere before the all nighter and the following morning it was hard to drag yourself away - didn't they have some strange seating at one point - a bit raised like theatre seats or something or is that my memory playing tricks. Paul Shirley Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) We may well have done this before , I dare say with my short term memory we'll be doing it again soon What , Pardon ? mr M's was a caberet night until about 1 am somthing like that ,they had all these acts on fire eaters singers ect as being a wiganer and coke lad( cleaner who got in the nighter for free) along with others , i know!! i rimember one night we was sat watching this act , there on the little stage was this mad fire eating woman i came out the bogs in the corridore and there she was gulping a glass o water down . i said can i have a sip of your water yeah no problem she said but why arnt you boozing and why are you dressed with a rugby shirt on ? i was trying my best to gob some bombers & started to cough . next thing she bangs my back with the force of car crash . so then she is picking one up ' saying these are sliming pills my mother is on them .dear me love your way to thin to be taking these why ? but anyway yes the other room was indeed gerry's barr . during the week on thursday nights i think .mr m's was a roxy n bowie night .it was a good night i liked it , and oh yer wiganers sat on the right as you went in the first door on the right side o the stage as you went in . all sat on the red plastic comfy seats Edited August 18, 2010 by steptoe
