Funky 4 Corners Posted August 17, 2010 Posted August 17, 2010 A guy called Ben Sandmel in the US is writing a book about Ernie K Doe and has asked me for any info. I've spent hours going through a few hundred black music related mags with absolutely nothing to show for it. Does anyone know of ANY magazines that has anything on him please? Thanks
Paul McKay Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 No pretty scant here too Keith. All I know is that his real name was Ernest Kador Jr. and that he was a member of the Blue Diamonds on Savoy.
Sebastian Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 (edited) An entire chapter in the superb book "I Hear You Knockin' - The Sound Of New Orleans Rhythm And Blues" (by Jeff Hannusch) is devoted to Ernie K-Doe. About 10 pages or so. Plenty of copies here: https://www.amazon.co.../dp/0961424508/ and here: https://www.amazon.co.../dp/0961424508/ Hannusch's follow-up book "The Soul Of New Orleans" is great as well. I wholeheartedly recommend both books for a good insight into the r&b/soul/funk of New Orleans. Edited August 18, 2010 by Sebastian
Philippe Posted August 18, 2010 Posted August 18, 2010 Here is his site : https://www.k-doe.com/ K-Doe battling James Brown at a famous dance competition in New Orleans at the Municipal Auditorium in 1963. Folks in New Orleans still talk about this legendary bout. Credit: Earl Perry
