I got them out yesterday, I have 1 to 4 but not 5. So, anybody got a Vol 5 to sell ?? Hoping Dylan is sorted and I'm not jumping the thread...not after the same as Dylan,

No, there were just the five - plus a companion CD that featured selections from all five volumes plus two bonus tracks, a kiddie thing by Percy Sledge Jr. and 'Unknown Male Vocalist' doing "Close To Me", which is actually Dan Penn's Fame recording of that song that was issued on Fame 6402...

Hello, I was surprised that nobody at Charly recognised "Close To Me" by Dan Penn, especially as June Edwards 1967 version of the very same song was featured on one of the five Charly LPs - with Dan Penn credited as writer of course. Apart from the five LPs and the Charly CD in 1989 there were four CDs issued in the US a few years later on Overture. Millbrand Music obtained publishing rights to most Quinvy songs (outside the US and Canada) in 2006 and Selrec have exclusive rights to the Quinvy / South Camp / Norala masters, and some other tracks recorded at Quinvy and Broadway Sound - such as Sandra Wright, James Govan etc. Excuse the shamless plug but I'm currently working on some new Quinvy / South Camp compilations which will be issued on Shotgun. I've asked them both at various times, Cliff said it was just a tape he found at Broadway and that he presumed to be Quinvy material. My guess is that, back in the day, Quin Ivy grabbed a copy tape of Fame 6402 from Rick Hall for June Edwards to learn and record, and that the tape just slid into the Quinvy inventory when it was finished with. Wouldn't be the first time something like that has happened!
